Well, maybe not a stock Evo/STI. YOu have to do a few mods, but they can. go to www.streetfire.net then videos, down the list to WRX, and look through. Those vids will show you how fast these cars really are.

They are not slow as crap like the G once you pass 110.

powerto weight. The Gs are heavy. Unlike an STI. A 4 cyl with 300 hp.

pfft. STI/Evo=butt rape a G
Smoke Corvettes stock? Auto and 6MT C5 Vettes typically see 107-110mph in the 1/4 mile and C6s are seeing 112-115mph. That's a significant difference compared to the typical EVO and STI that sees about 101mph in the 1/4 mile. Trap speed shows available power and the Vette simply has more of it. As for power to weight, I think you're off.

G35 sedan 6MT 3,450lbs 235whp 14.6:1
EVO 3,270lbs 230whp 14.2:1
STI 3,260lbs 235whp 13.9:1
C5 3,200lbs 320whp 10:1
C6 3,180lbs 350whp 9:1
C6 Z06 3,100lbs 400whp 7.8:1

What could you put into the car that would solve this problem, since id like to go faster than 110 if i'm ever in the right mind to race someone.

Not sure what your experiencing, My '05x is amazing all the way up to 220kph In 5th Gear, and my last car was a Stage III turbo Audi S4. Although 4th gear seems to suck compared to 3rd & 5th

That explains a lot. I've always wondered why my 6mt seems to pull pretty hard at 100+ on other G's out there, assuming most of them are autos. Plus some reviewers of the the G were able to get better 0-60 times in X's vs. the RWD. They attributed it to traction, but there had to be more, gearing, big difference.

That's why the 740i sport was much faster than the 740i non-sport, same engine, but much bigger rear.

AWD also splits more of the power so their is drivetrain loss.

Stock G35x 4th Gear sucks, I have a G-timer, so I know what WOT G forces
at each Gear. Stock, 4th Gear WOT 0.14-0.15G, after S/C, 4th gear 0.32G.

You will not feel much "pull" at 0.15G. Used to be a disadvantage at highway passing, starting ~80, now I can fly by.

Yeah but I heard that the AWD technology is the same technology as the Nissan Skyline, practically making it the best AWD tech out there? And if I remember correctly, isn't it always RWD until you lose traction which then it splits it 50-50, so the transfer of weight does not apply when accelerating in good conditions.

This was the first shortfall I noticed going from my mustang gt to the G35x. The mustang would just keep pulling ridiculously past 100. I never went much further than 120, but it definitely had a better pull up top. With the G I was going about 90 or 95 and punched and was like wtf? AWD, four doors and automatic - guess I have to give up a little something. Haven't really done it since, don't really need a 45mph over the limit ticket.

I raced my friends 98 mustang gt 4.6L V8 and I beat him by a little less than a car length in my automatic awd sedan. He complained about a bad launch but even before, I wasn't that far behind him. Mine does has a Z-Tube and a Power Duct, and exhaust tips, but other than that, its stock.

If you guys want the best of both worlds under 40K, do what I did. Get a Charger SRT8. The G was OK, but the fun factor didn't last long. The SRT is faster than the G, outhandles the G, and has a stock top speed of 175. All while transporting 5 passengers with much more interior space. Great stereo, Nav, etc. I have had MANY cars. One faster ( a very modified 2000 Camaro). But never a car so much fun on a daily basis.

i have raced a 2004 mustang GT and it was dead even from 30-140. and i had 2 passengers in my car.
corvettes are over rated. we use to rape them and supercharged rustangs with our eclipses.
