Wow, that's pretty good. I've never come close to that type of mileage. It seems that the mileage varies greatly between individual cars. Mine seems to be somewhat on the low (poor mpg) end of the scale. I just filled the tank today (18 gallons) and had just done 340 miles since my last fill-up. This was about 60/40 between city and highway driving. Pretty straight-forward driving: no launching, no screeching to a stop.

I did 428 with low light on when I took the trip to Vegas. For my daily commute its average around 320.

Nice 390, So far my record is 360 in my 04 5AT sedan. That's about 80% highway and 20% city. I have never let the gas light come on.

I averaged 28 MPG on a cross country trip from Corpus Christi, Texas, to Whidbey Island, WA running 68 - 75 MPH. 380 is completely doable.

Those who say otherwise need to get their right foot calibrated. I routinely get 350+ on 100% city driving. I'm talking miserable top speeds of 45 MPH and work commutes of less than 4 miles one way. I spend more time warming the car up than I do driving it to work in the morning these days.

Call BS. I'm measuring it tank by tank - I know it's true.

WOW..very impressive...I'm guessing it has a lot to do w/ your car being a 6-spd. versus some of our 5AT's. I'd only get 31 MPG w/ my 115 HP, 4-banger VW Jetta 5 spd.

I got just under 400 mi on my first tank of gas in my 05x. Then 350. Now 300 is a good fill up. I think its because the dealer used regular in the first fill up I got. The car had 5000 miles on it when I bought it.

I used to get that kind of mileage...during the break-in period. Now I am happy if I keep it above 17.5 MPG.

I live in San Diego and work in Irvine.

68+ miles each way with heavy traffic on both ends (about 20% of the drive).

I've done this for 5 months and have been keeping track of mileage the entire time.

395 miles per tank is average.

I've done 430 miles, but it was out of necessity (there are no gas stations for a stretch of 20+ miles of my drive).

22-23+ mpg seems to be the norm, but I have babied the car and gotten 24-25mpg (cruise control and keep under 75 with no AC). I use 89/91 octane (switch back and forth) but have really seen no difference between the two.

Everyone I work with is impressed that a car of this caliber can consistently get 22+ mpg.

It seems that the powerplant in this car just gets stronger/more efficient with time. I recall back when I bought the car I was barely able to get 15-16mpg.

My 2004 AT, overall for 23K miles, has averaged 20.5 mpg. Maybe 1/2 highway driving overall, counting a few trips out of state. (Normally 70-75 on the highway).

ok, i better bring in my car for service, it is an '05 AT sedan, with 16k miles, i've gotten as low as 14.5 to almost 18mpg in the city on my daily commutes, running an average 45-55mph, and around 20-22 on the highway, averaging around 80 mph. that seems awfully low, compared to some of you guys.

Not at all...you're within the range of others. You have an AT, so you'll get slightly less than the 6mts. Fuel octane & driving habits also have a lot to do with it. If you use 87 octane, your will be slightly lower...if you use modest to aggressive acceleration, your MPG will decrease. You should give it a try sometimes like I do....you know what your normal driving habits yield for you MPG-wise. Next time you fill up, dedicate yourself to very mild acceleration (don't let your RPM's get above 2K) and don't stomp on it & keep your speed on the highway no higher than 65-70 MPH, and I guarantee that you'll see a noticeable difference in MPG!

Well 390 and 18 gals makes it 21.6/gal ... achievable ...

I get around 19-20/gal with 30/70 city/highway driving ...

And you did say that you were below "E". I fill up when it is about to hit E since I dont wanna get stuck in the highway.

cheers.......

Just filled up this morning , put in 65.026 litres for 489.4 km. That's about 17.7 mpg for my neighbours all city driving, no babying it.
