2003 Sedan, A/T Question.....

For some reason, sometimes it feels like when I put my car into drive, like it hesitates for a second. Not like an engine hesitation, but a driveline/trans hesitation. If I take it from Park to Drive, sometimes it will jerk when it gets into Drive. Wondering if anyone else has this issue.

My 03 Sedan engaged very easily and gradually...It's meant to.
ONly times it jerked a little into gear was when cold and not quite warmed yet, and also when going from reverse to drive or vise-versa it would jerk a little due to take-up of slack in the drive line. no worries.

Yes, if you are in a hurry--once you put it in D, it hesitates 2-3 tenths of a sec. or so--so if you hit the gas in that time--it will jerk. Think of having the car in Neutral--reving it slightly and putting it in d--it jerks off.

Normal--just wait 1/2 second once in d--then its normal from there.

if you want instant engagement, you won't get it. but with a Stillen - or SGP - valve body upgrade, it'll be a much firmer engagement.

To be sure, you might want to read up on this TSB (thanks to DaveO) which explains a potential issue with the transmission.

You may want to have the dealer have a look.
