Loud drone in cabin under 3k rpm?

Alright, so I've read all about the midpipe drone - but I have a new sound in my car that's bothering me. I have a service appnt, but frankly I find you guys know more than the service guys so I'm asking you.

It started two days ago, doesn't happen when the car is cold but as soon as it warms up. It's a loud drone that sounds sort of like a high pitched machine gun in the cabin. It's way louder in the front passenger seat than anywhere else. Sounds like it's coming from the engine bay down low and reverberates into the cabin. Goes away after 3k rpm, but that might just be due to engine noise. It changes pitch as I accelerate and is loudest when idle. There are no engine mods to the car, it's an '03 sedan.

Happens whether the fan is on or off, so I know it's not that.

Thoughts?

I used to date a girl that made a nagging, droning noise coming from the passenger seat. I found that putting all the windows down, cranking the radio up and driving really fast made it go away. Getting rid of her worked even better.

Sorry, I had to No idea bud, I get some noise from my headers/cats but never had anything like what you described. Anyone else?

Haha, I knew I would get the "It's your wife" reply. :P

Alright so I took it in and they replaced my fuel damper. The sound is gone, I guess they had started to make noise. Actually even though I just noticed it I guess they had been making noise for awhile, because the car is really quiet now.

Just for the curious, the fuel damper regulates the amount of fuel delivered to each cylinder as the injectors open. That's why the sound I had was sort of a quick pulsating drone, almost like someone was turning a pressure washer on and off super fast.
