The G35 Rev-up engine is a 6 speed manual for years '05 and newer.

What is not is ANYTHING 03 and 04 models regardless of transmission, and ANYTHING that is Automatic transmission regardless of year.

Thanks MikeyMike..... so my next question is, what can I do with this engine? I'm guessing rev-up the rpm's and pop the clutch? Is there any other significance associated with this engine? I've read about some mods with the plenum spacer and ECU, but am unclear as to whether these mods can be done on any engine, or just the rev-up.

The rev-up engine has more power (298) than all the others (266-280) but Infiniti sacrificed the low-end for more top end with the rev-up motors. The best mod for the rev-up motor is the new Motordyne MREV plus (lower plenum from pre 05-06 MT's and an iso thermal plenum spacer) it's said to gain near 20HP and 20Ft/Lbs TQ. The MREV can only be done on the rev-up motor. You can do the normal intake, exhaust, headers to the rev-up motor just as you can to any other car. Use the SEARCH function and you'll find plenty of info that you need on the rev-up motor.

I don't know if I would categorize the 05/06 6 spd as a rev up engine as it really only has a redline just several hundred rpms higher. To me an example of a "rev up" engine is something like the Honda S2000 which has 240 horse and only 140 or so torque. this car has to rev real high to generate horsepower. Remember HP is rpms X torque divided by 5252.

It's not really categorized as a rev up engine like the s2k. It's just infiniti's new name for the VQ35 6MT. Although if you think about it it's still kind of like the s2k motor. They bumped up the horsepower and left the torque therefore making it harder to produce big power down low. The VQ Rev-Up motor makes it's power in the higer RPM range just like the s2k motor.

Thanks for the insight. Now I understand what the term rev-up means! I haven't had a new car since the "ex" took my Grand Prix away from me 5 years ago. It was a crappy car anyway, but she took it and then promptly sold it! Now that she's long gone, this G35 will belong to nobody except ME!

"rev-up" is the term nissan gave the newer 298hp engine. I think it came simply from "revision up" as in they made a revision to the motor. Variable valve timing was added to the exhaust valves, the intake plenum was revised, some of the ECU mapping was changed. I think even some of the conrods were strengthened. The result was an increase in HP: 18, and loss in 10 ft-lbs of torque. My basis of info is from the Nissan engineers that came to talk at the Turbonetics meet a few months back. Hope that helps.

for me its an increase of 38 more horsepower comming from the 260hp motor. and let me tell you, those 38 extra horses makes it a hell of alot more fun to drive.

Definitely get the MREV mod. Everyone who's put it on their car has really liked the results.

Go to forums at the top, then go to SEARCH to find more info.

the mrev+ plenum mod is up next on my mod list....do you think it's worth saving nearly 12 bucks in shipping to wait until everythingg35.com has it in stock?

If i can get it for $620 shipped, my wallet will be talking...
