Sedan owners w/ 22 inch resonator mod

I just asked a muffler shop in Torrance, CA on how much it'd cost to put one on and they told me $50, which sounds like a killer price from what I've read so far.
1) Sedan owners that have had it done- Is it worth it?
2) Did you notice any changes? Performance? Sound?
3) I was thinking about getting the Stillen exhaust system whenever it comes out. From what you guys understand, does the Stillen exhaust system (prototype) include it's own resonator? If so, I'll hold off since it would be pointless to get it done only to have it replaced in a few months.
Just wanted to get more feedback than what was previously posted before I had it done.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

The Stillen Sedan Dual Catback Exhaust System incorporates a high flow y-pipe with an X-section for improved exhaust gas scavenging, two midpipe - resonators and a dual in-dual out muffler. This picture shows the Y-pipe and 3/4 of the dual midpipe assembly.

Another picture of the Stillen dual midpipe -resonator prototype mounted on their test Sedan.

The commercial version will be prettier.

So I assume that if I get the stillen exhaust, the resonator
will be replaced?

Hey, if you do it, let me know how it sounds?? and performance wise, too??
I live in Anaheim, but if I like the sound, I'm willing to drive to Torrance. Let me know player. ^^
Ask them to go lower and you will bring more G35 customers.

Re: Sedan owners w/ 22 inch resonator mod

Was thinking about the Stillen exhaust but couldn't wait for it and decided to save $$$. FYI, got it done a few days ago at B&M Muffler shop in Garden Grove for $70. Sounds real nice. Not raspy either. I don't know if it's placebo or what, but the car sure seems to flow a lot smoother and feels noticibly faster. Forgot to mention that it's a Magnaflow 22 inch resonator and that the $50 quote previously was for some generic glasspack resonator. They showed me the difference between the Magnaflow and the other one. Magnaflow is a lot better. In conjunction w/ my Stillen High flow intake, my car feels much meaner. Now all I have to do is get that Z intake, whenever it gets off backorder.

I got quoted $140CAD installed here in Toronto. What I don't really understand is, why would a resonator increase sound rather than reduce it as it's meant to do?

If anyone can tell me how much JUST the part retails for and where I can order one from, that would be great. Part number would be appreciated as well, since the dude at the shop mentioned something about a stainless steal one and an aluminized one. Thanks!!

It's still a G thang!!

Technically the the 22" Magnaflow resonator I have is actually not a resonator at all. It is a 4" round muffler. It has the same intrenal contruction as most glass packs. Frankly after being shown the inside of the magnaflow and some of the others, the Magnaflow is much better IMO. The part number for the alumi steel one is 10436. The same thing is not made in stainless steel in 22" length, it's a 14" unit part #14416. But I wouldn't use one that short IMO.

As far are the resonating the 22" does allow. It is only during 1400-2000rpm's and with heavier throttle applications. It is non offensive and hardly noticeable. I've run shorter resonator system's before, that's then they resonate to much, but not this setup.

Sweet...thanks for the info. I will definitely consider this mod. In your opinion...is it much louder like an aftermarket exhaust or is the general answer, that it sounds more like a coupe? I do not want it loud, but enough to hear a slight difference.

Yes, it sound's more like the coupe. But don't get me wrong, it's not a copy, just closer. I call it the gentlemen's exhaust mod. You experience it's benefit's as in the improved idle sound burble. And it continues to around 2k, very gratifying around parking lot's. I say gentleman, in that you get the sound benefit's without having to rev the snot out of the car. My injen intake rules the noise factor past 4K, so I can't say a word on what if any sound difference it may or may not do to the high end. I might be a smidge louder, I dunno. For me, $70 very well spent. Just to say it, I'd be stunned if it's anywhere as loud as the HKS, Stillen or the Greddy systems.

Why do people say the HKS is loud? I hate loud exhausts and would never own one. Mine sounds very pleasant. If anyone in Texas wants to hear it, I will be entering my car in the 5th annual Texas Statewide Datsun/Nissan Auto Show in Austin on Sept 20th.
