I have been trying unsucessfully to remove the center console. For some reasosn I can not depress the shift lock so I can put the damn shifter in neutral and lift off the console!

Is there some trick to pushing the shift lock? i can't seem to hit it right.
I read somewhere someone talking about a "key" and I never had one. My car audio guys have done it plenty of times.

parking break was engaged and break depressed when I tried.

 

use your ignition key or a small screwdriver.

 

Nevermind, got it, guess my angle was just off a bit.
