Question Help: Radio Fades When Key Is Removed

Just started this morning. When I remove the key from the ignition the radio would continue playing then fade off in about 3 seconds. Any ideas?

Called dealer to schedule an appointment and he told me that the radio should remain "on" for at least 5 minutes, then turn off as long as the doors were not opened. I told him this feature never worked on this car.

BTW: 2003 Sedan G35

The radio is not part of the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) feature like the windows. It should go OFF when you remove the key.

Mine does not stay on if the key is removed or turned to the "off" position. In my old Denali, the radio did stay on until a door was opened. The windows had power too. I liked that feature.

The windows and sunroof have power for 45 seconds after the key is shut off, but not the radio. (provided the doors are not opened.)

Do you have anything plugged into your accessory port under the armrest. This happened to me when I had an invertor plugged into that accessory port. When I unplugged it, it was fine afterwards.

In my 04, the radio stays on until I pull the key out. If I just turn the engine off but don't pull the key, the radio stays on forever. Or at least long enough for the car wash to finish.

Echoagent, you hit it right on the money, I just happened to have power inverter plugged in to that accessory port, that I forgot to remove after using my laptop last weekend.

Radio powers "OFF" as soon as the key is removed the windows and sunroof have power for 45 seconds after the key is shut off just like Msedanman posted.

What a great forum.

Thanks alot.
