Two Holes in my BUMPER, pretty pissed =(

I picked up my new G last saturday and you know the plates haven't came in yet. I was sitting in front of my car and noticed that the dealer put on the bracket and from what I read ealier I was like damn they drilled the holes and mounted it...I pulled it back a little and saw the screws to mount the plate was screwed to far in and puntured the bumper...i was like F it, they already drilled it to mount the bracket...

Well i did a little looking around and found the tow hook cover in a glove box and thought strange they took it out...well that was all in the weekend. Today looking around I found out that the 06 and probably 05 uses a bracket that doesnt need to be drilled, rather it screws into the tow hook, it all falls into place. Now I'm pissed...like really pissed off about the two holes in my bumper...

I'm gonna go bitch to my dealer as soon as I get back from my midterm...they better replace the thing...you guys think so? Man I'm soo mad right now my head is dizzy....

That sucks man. I hate it when dealers mount the front plate to advertise their dealership, especially in states where front plates are not required. It really sucks for you since they didn't have to drill holes to begin with. I'm glad mine did not have it the front plate mounted. I also hate when they put their emblem decal on the back of the car. I always get them to remove it before taking delivery. Luckily, mine was a floor model and didn't have a front plate or dealer decal.

I don't understand. With the license plate w/ bracket, the holes are covered? If you take the plate off and use the oem cover, the holes are covered?

In the whole scheme of things, it doesn't show?

Basically they take off the tow hook cover, screw in this bracket that takes place of the tow hook. You then take two screws and screw the plate onto the bracket. The problem is, they used screws that were to loong. They went pass the bracket and into the bumper. So if I take off the bracket and cover the tow hook hole. There's still two holes puntured into the bumper....

I guess I need to see a pic. I searched for one while trying to figure out if I need to drill holes if my oem cover was never installed before. But of course the pics are all jigsawed from whatever happened to the server or whatnot. Of course almost ALL pics that I need to see are this way.

I hope your dealer at least took the time and effort to do it right.

Metro Infiniti here in SoCal not only drilled the holes without telling me but they also drilled it unevenly (not level). My front plate sits slightly cocked to the right because of that.

If I get what you are saying, the dealer went to the trouble to find and install a plate mount that utilized the tow hook receiver (so no drill holes necessary in bumper) and then still drilled holes in your bumper?

That really sucks. I would be upset too.

No. They didn't intentionally drill into his bumper. I think what he's saying is that the screws used to mount the plate to the frame (not the frame to the car) were too long, and therefore he has pits / holes in the bumper. These aren't from the backing frame itself, but rather from the plate attaching to the frame.

To the OP, I hear your pain, since your bumper would have been flawless without the front plate.

Got it, still sucks. Sometimes you just wish people paid more attention to what they are doing.

The tow hook hole is utilized by the license plate bracket to center the two bracket holes. The mechanics just need to set the bracket into the tow hook hole and then drill the two holes. This guarantees that the holes are even and centered. I just took my license plate off today, and not only do I have two holes from the bracket, but two marks from the license plate screws.

Well I'de raise pure hell with them! This is something that they clearly did and, they won't do zhit if you go in there and just inquire. You need to go in there and ask for the head cheese and make a big fvcking deal about it. Tell them that if they don't fix it that you'll give nothing but bad reviews to all of your freinds (including us!!) and tell everyone you know to NOT deal with them!! That should get some action taken. I wouldn't put up with it

From what I've heard, California requires the front license plate to be installed. The mechanic was just doing his job. I should have had the foresight to request that the front plate not be installed.

I don't believe the mechanic has the right to damage your car in the process though!!

They drilled my car too and I asked them not to. Had to order plugs from bumperplugs.com and you can barely tell now. I was pissed though.

I have the same problem with my g35 >< , went to put the piece that fills in the tow hook hole, and what do you know, the screws holding up the license plate to the plate holder were too long, and they put two whole marks in the bumper, I thought I should have taken it back to the dealership, but they would have never admitted fault... so I was like screw it..., but you GET THEM TO FIX IT if you can!
