Burn Outs in the G for the Track

Thanks to JCV telling me where to look, a friend and I were able to hook up a Toggle Switch and insert it into the factory spare slot on the bottom left of the dash...it looks 100% OEM. It's the same ABS black plastic as the dummy switch it replaced. Anyway the details are as foloows:

my350z.com has some good info with pics and that is where I found the info. There is a guy who pulled his fuse and got his stock coupe to run 13.9 @ 97+ in the 1/4 mi...insane...The toggle switch, when activatd, will knock out the rear brake lights, the ABS (the brakes will still work), and 100% of the traction control, but not the rev limiter when applying the brake and gas at the same time, so with that said my results were this:

* With little to no gas I could get the rear wheels to start
spinning doing a brake stand with 3 people in the car...
the resulting launch was incredible. If I turned the wheel
and nailed the gas, I could lay down a slab of rubber 150'
long...it was like driving my mustang when it was stock.
Oh, and when launching, both wheels are spinning and
laying down rubber for a nice smooth launch...the best
way to do this was to get the wheels to spin, and then let
off the throttle so that the spin was just a little and then
hammer it...this created a nice hard launch with some
wheel spin and a lot more speed out of the hole.

I was at a buddy's parking lot, so I don't know exactly how
this would translate at the track...now for the weird stuff.

The rev limiter, as I said, is still intact...meaning, that with the fuse pulled or with the switch installed, I still can't brake torque the car above 24-2600 rpms at a dead stop...and b/c of this, after I filled the car with 18 gallons of gas (I forget how much gas weighs/gallon) that sits right over the rear wheels...I could not get the car to do a standing burnout with anyone in the car...then not with just me...then finally, after giving it a rest, I was able to do one, but I would never be able to go through all that BS at the track, b/c the race would be over by the time I figured out how to get the rear wheels to break loose.

So, I am hoping, that with little to no gas, the burnouts are easy...and also, the switch, I thougt, was supposed to enable the rear brake lights to remain functional even with the VDC 100% off...this is not the case...the switch only enables the brake lights to be off or on with ease as opposed to pulling and replacing a fuse...so this was kind of a disappointment b/c I would have liked to been able to drive like this every so often, but without brake lights I would never drive on the open road like that.

Of course rain is expected for the next street night at the track so I will have to wait a bit more to test all of this at the track.

If anyone knows anything we may have done wrong, etc...suggestions...please fire away...I am all about beating my wife's Maxima at the track with this pig...I know from a roll or on the twisties or in the curves the G will kill the Maxima, but my tag still punches me in the face everytime I hit "Continue" on this forum. :-(

Do you have a sedan? With no LSD I can't see how you could make both wheels spin at the same time.
On a coupe however with the mod you described you can melt tires! Get a pair of drag radials heat them up real good and pick up your 13 sec time slip.

bosssho, you're still working into the stall speed of the torque converter, so long as the brakes are held tight and tires don't slip you're stuck at 2.5 to 2.7K no way around it. Contrary to what some folks might do, try RAISING air pressure in the back tires to get some slip since you're not traction limited. Run with half of tank of gas or less and you're set. Run right the G will blow the Max off every time.

About running with low gas on the track--don't take it too low (below 3 gallons) or the car will sputter and die out from the gas sloshing around as you accelerate. I had this happen on the track when I was running the gas low--had 2.5 gallons in the tank and when I put the throttle to the floor, it sputtered. Was fine with anything over 3 gallons.

I can't wait to get back up there.

The Air pressure increase makes sense. Glad to hear it's not me losing my mind on whether or not the stall speed of the TC was kicking in or if Gremlins were involved. I will keep you posted, and thanks.

Mother F****** so that's it huh...Murphy's Law is against us 5AT Sedan Owners...lol...Yes, I have a 2003.5 5AT Sedan. My buddy who did the Mod with me verified on two different burnouts I was able to do right after we did the mod and I still had very little gas, that both rear wheel were up in smoke! So at least I can get that to happen some times.

Roger that! My Z71 truck (26.5 Gallon Tank) is the worst when it comes to that.
