Had alignment done now steering wheel is crooked

Hi,
I just put on some new turanza ls-v 235-50/17 on my G and had
an alignment done at the dealer. Now my steering wheel is slightly off center
to the left. I had them recheck it and they claim everything is right on. Could
it be the wider tire causing this slight shift in the steering wheel or the actual tire. It doesn't seem to pull at all, so it does seem aligned. I might swap both front tires to see if it makes a difference. Just wanted to check with all you G owners to see if anyone else has experienced this behaviour.
Thanks!
Brian

Just an adjustment in the steering wheel usually, if it's not pulling to the right or left it's probably fine.

This is normal. I know some places do this because of the slope of the roadway. The middle of the road tends to be a little higher so the car will drift to the right even if the alignment is straight so the off center the wheel to the left to compensate. At least that's what I've been told about domestic trucks.

Incorrect. It's a adjustment in the driving arms down near the tires. They didn't adjust the wheel straight before adjusting the alignment. Some places are lazy and do this. All they need to do is adjust one bolt in on one side and the other out some, depending which way it needs to go. You can not adjust the steering wheel itself (not the proper way to do it.)

Sounds like the alignment was not done correctly! If all is done correctly, the steering wheel is level when going straight. Insist they do it correctly. Do the new G35s on their lot do this? NOOOO.. Why does yours do this now? Simple questions to aske the dealer who did the shoddy work!

G35_TX if right. The alignment can be perfect but if they forget to align the steering wheel it can be off centre.
An easy fix......go back.

Okay, still affects the steering wheel, that's what I meant, no need to be harsh!

Yes, I had this happen to me in the past with a former car. The alignment might be correct and within specs...they just didn't have the steering wheel "straight" when they aligned the car. Make sure you tell them you want the steering wheel to be straight.

I knew what you meant Tom.....that the alignment is good but that the s/wheel needed to be straightened........

Lol, isn't it funny that you should have to mention this to them?

p.s. I've had this same issue with cars in the past. The car's alignment would be fine, but in order to drive straight, the steering wheel had to be turned a little to the right. It can be annoying.

Tell me about it. The problem is that the service people can be kinda be dense sometimes. You gotta be extra clear and detailed with them.
