Was hit from the rear.
Hi all,
I got to know from the dealer that my car's rear was hit. Unfortunately I was not aware about this at all. I had been complaining about trunk alignment for the past 3 services/visits to the dealer and I got to know from the dealer that my car was hit at the rear. There is a slight damage to the bumper that is not visible unless we specifically look for a damage. Also the right quarter panel is bent (again not noticable unless carefully inspected for damage). The trunk floor is bent towards the top(something like a single water ripple). But all these are not noticable. I think that this happened about 4 months ago when I started complaining about the trunk alignment. It seems that some azole had bumped into my parked car.
The bodyshop suggested by the dealer quoted somewhere around $5000-8000 for the damage.
I have two questions
Where can I find a good body-shop in New Jersey? I am put up at somerville.
Would my insurance go up?
This is my first time here. Please bear with me....
Cheers

I brought my car to a body shop in NY last summer to get concrete removed (yeah, how about that, concrete splashed all over the passenger side of the car) and I paid for it out of pocket because going thru insurance was pure hell. I suspect my rate would have gone up too. With this type of damage the insurance company is going to be a bitch to deal with but with those numbers in damage, I guess you don't have a choice. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of the damage.........Good luck with the repairs and insurance.
and unfortunately, yes your insurance will go up, but if you're making a claim, get the best job done that you can. No need to get a cheap job done.
Welcome, btw,
C.

I work for an insurance company as an auto adjuster. I think that the body shop is not giving you a real price. $5-8k is a big range. Pretty sure if you look around the price will be alot less than that shop. Any pics of the damage? Since you really have to look carefully to see the damage the car probably needs time on a frame machine and some minor body work.
