Climate Controls & Radio Controls Freezes

I got a 03 Sedan with 116,000 Km on it. When I first start the car I set the Temperature to 30 C, because its damn cold here in Canada. While driving for 5 mins the Fan display starts going up to MAX,(normal) all of the sudden my climate control goes dead and my my radio goes blank. I dont have no control over the climate and it contiues to blow 30 C on full because thats how it was set to. I can control the radio on the streering wheel but thats it. I can shut off the car far about 1 HR and it will go away. It is a intermitting problem so I dont want to waste money taking it to the dealer. Just want to know if this is a comman problem in 03 G's?

Never seen that one happen before. Sounds like a short back there somewhere. Good time to do the double-din conversion.

Put up a wanted thread looking for someone that has changed from the oem to DD. I sold mine for $50 US, so you should be able to do better than $400!

My display just flashes on and off in a random pattern. When it does this, it is a bunch of nonsense. Wonder if this could be related? Not sure if I lose my controls. This only has happened about once a year and my warranty is ending in a few months...BTW, what is the double din conversion??? Thanks

Take it in ASAP and see if the dealer will take car of it.

The DD conversion is converting the stock radio to a double din size radio.

Here is mine:

this actually might not work...we tried putting another board from a different car in and for some reason it didnt work...apparently they have a few versions of this board and they'll need your VIN# to find out which board you need (or at least thats how it is for the 2003 models). i dont know if he replaces the whole HU it might be a different story though........

I just got mine replaced last week. AC froze on full blast and I couldn't do anything. Radio worked but when I turned it off, it didn't go back on. All my climate control lights went on. Mine was replaced under warranty. Odd, while I told them what happened, I didn't have to "replicate" it at the dealer. They talked like they already knew about it and knew exactly what to do to fix it.
