6mt and driveline noise.

Does anyone else experience a lot of driveline noise? Loud 1st gear, driveline whine in 1st and 2nd?

Just cruising slow in the neighborhood I noticed it. Windows up and stereo on you wouldn't hear it. It's louder than any manual transmission car I have owned.

The biggest issue I have is the sound it makes when it's loaded up in first gear and you take off. It's totally different noise than in any other gear. It's almost a binding type of noise.

I need to go drive another 2005/2006 6mt and see if it does the same thing.

Nope. The only noise I hear is the rattling of the tranny when it's in neutral.

It's not tranny rattle, it is clutch rattle. It goes away when clutch pedal is pushed down, right?

It's actually the dual mass flywheel you're hearing.

I don't have the rattle. Almost 3000 miles on my G.
My tranny is running smoother than a baby's butt right now. (knocking on wood).

You're not alone. My car is very noisy, but I've come to expect it. The clutch rattles as it engages/disengages. The transmission offers up loud "clunks" when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, regularly, especially at low speeds. And the flywheel is extremely chattery at idle. Also, there's quite a bit of vibration that enters the clutch, when shifting and when at a complete stop(if the clutch is fully depressed).

I'd like to add that the clutch return springs are quite loud as well.

Agreed... my G also chatters and rattles. Seems like that's the consensus, but is it normal?
