car for sale-need value please!

hi guys-unforturnately, i think im gonna lose my job, thus cannot afford my payments. i need values-(i checked kbb, nada, edmunds, etc) for either a trade in or resale. a dealer low balled the snot out of it for trade in, and im thinking carmax or resale are my only options. what i have working against me i guess is there are still some 05's out there going for steals. the stats:

05 g35 sedan no premium w sunroof, sirius and homelink mirror self installed (factory), silver ext. with black leather interior, automatic

sooo, anyone want to buy? im in charlotte, nc. it has about 4900 miles, clean as a whistle, only hand washed.

long story short, if i need to get rid of it soon, whats the best bet w/o losing my ****? im gonna miss this ride bad-i need to lessen the reality here!

thanks for your help, advice and entertainment for the 5 months ive had this ride and the 5 months i researched a g35 before i bought it!

Sorry to hear about your luck if you were in Hawaii you would probably break even on a sale or trade since you would gain an addition 2K on a car sale here but i would say your car is worth 28K on a private party sale.

Just look at autotrader / newspaper in your area to see what others are asking for it. You won't get more than anyone else is selling their car for. You also won't get nearly as much if you trade it in. So if you are truely hard up for $, you will have to put forth the effort to sell it privately.

26K retail. I see them in my autotrader for around that much. A 2005 is almost 2 years old now. If you check on Ebay, many of the 2005 G35 sedans go for 25-27K.

FYI I live near Charlotte and I bought my 2003.5 G35 6mt sedan used for $18 grand with 30K on it 2months ago off a used car dealership in Columbia off of autotrader.

I see most 2005's going for $24-$26,000, but I guesstimate that I could negotiate $22-$24 grand witht he supply and demand conditions at this point. Resale value is not Nissan's or Infiniti's strong point, and an automatic G35 is as common on the road as a Nissan Altima.

Charlotte is not the best seller's market unless you have something very unique like a M series BMW. I think you will have difficulties getting anything over $25,000 unless you are very patient. I have sold 5 cars private party in Charlotte in the last 3 years, the M3 took me 2 months to sell but I got what I was asking. Took my 3 days to sell my 1992 Sentra SE-R and I got almost double my asking price...go figure. I guess there is always a sucker out there but then again, both vehicles were tastefully modified and in limited production.

Well, you could look at it the exact opposite. First of all, the G35 has one of the highest resale values in it's class, so resale is an Infiniti strong point. Secondly, an auto will bring more than a MT. There's a reason that there are many more autos out there than MT's. That reason is they obviously sell many more AT's. And that's a good thing when you're selling because you have a much bigger buying audience. I have sold many cars over the years, and it's never easier to sell a MT.

I would like to point that that the G35 COUPE has the highest resale value. Not the sedan.

Not to take up this thread but -
I do not agree with you. Never say never. It all depends on the market and vehicle type you are selling and I know for a fact that a manual transmission will get more money for certain vehicles, maybe not for ALL Infiniti models but case in point would be:

BMW E36 M3, 540, I30 M3, 840
Lexus GS300, IS300
Jeep CJ-7(5), Cherokee
Mazda RX-7 (turbo), Miata
Nissan 300z (turbo), Maxima, I30t, Infiniti G20t, 240sx (silvia),
Honda Civics, preludes, and Accords (used)

Also, I have a feeling that a used sedan in a 6 speed will end up with the highest resale value based on the fact that it has the lowest production of the combos offered currently and will be much more difficult to find used. Just like the E36 BMW M3 Sedan or the 6 speed 540. Form and function.
