Exclamation Help! Tranny disengaged!

Luckily this happened near home.

I was driving then all of the sudden it felt like I lost power. I switched to manumatic and saw that I was in second. Tried up shifting dashboard indicator reads 3 but I'm just limping along. Turned the car around and limped home. The engine runs fine but when I shift into D or R it's like I'm in N. Manumatic is out too. Any ideas?

Sounds like what I have heard called the "Limp home "mode. Does the owners manual say anything about it? What happens when you "re-boot"? (Just like with Windoze).

This happened to me once; I simply shut down and restarted and it worked fine. It hasn't happened since.

Good luck with the upgrades, should be an awesome tranny.

The saga:

One Saturday night I was running an errand in town. Not driving crazy or anything. I heard a slight bump from the floor near the tranny area. Start thinking "oh ****!". Next day I was driving around town and suddenly 2nd, 1st were slipping to the point where nothing was engaging. Luckily I was able to coast it home ~ 1 mile and pushed it into my drivway with the help of a neighbor. Evenutally got it to a shop and had them take a look (meanwhile I'm thinking why the F did I go FI?). They found all bits of metal in the filter. Don't know exactly what failed(I suspect clutchpacks based on what I've read on my350z.com). Anyway get a new tranny from a wreck , TC from level 10, and send out the VB to SGP. Finally we got it all together. The shifts are awesome now, hard and fast. It even chirps in second after I launch. I still what to get a tranny cooler for it and possibly a temp gauge since I had know idea what temp my tranny was running when it dumped. Anyway everything is happy in Xman's life again.

Is the VB and TC making a big perf. difference. Can't wait to see you run. Maybe you'll take me for a ride next week...or let me sit in on a 1/4 mile run!

AS do I. Gotta get in and get out before the heat attack. I can't believe a year has gone by. You could be running 13.2 or so I'd bet!
