Repeat Problem: Filling Fuel Tank

Right after I bought my car, I had a fuel-sending unit changed (I think) under recall/warranty because more often than not, I could not fill my car with gas. In fact, it refused to let me go past the 3/4-full mark. Things were fine up until the last two times I've attempted to fill up, and it is doing it again!! Very frustrating. Can the same problem be the cause?

I have had the exact same problem in the last 2 months. I can actually fill to about 7/8 of the tank, I would estimate that I am 6-8 litres from full. Once I was only able to fill 1/2 tank and the fuel spilled out.

Had the car into the dealership and they ordered right and left fuel sending units. Got a call that the parts are in and I will have them changed after next week and will post how things went.

When filling my gas tank the first time, I had a similar problem. The dealer determined that the fill tube was screwed up and decided to replace the tank. There were a few others with the same problem and the tank was put on back order. Once they replaced the tank I had no more filling problems.

I recently had the same fuel-filling problem, and the dealer also replaced the sending unit. So far so good...but I sure hope it doesn't start happening again! How come dealers don't perform the TSB where they replace the gas valve? It looks like more work; I wonder if it's easier and faster to replace the sending unit.

I had the TSB done to my vehicle. Fixed the problem.
