Re: Thinking About Selling the Sedan...

I believe Infiniti is coming out with 2 or 3 large SUV's soon (including a larger "FX"). This is according to my dealership, BTW.
I drove an FX35 and a coupe the other day. Two completely different vehicles, but the FX was very smooth, comfortable and it felt like I could drive it all day long.
It may be my next vehicle, too.
In your case, check out the Titan!

I have never owned anything but American vehicles. I don't know why you mention that but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Especially trucks I think it's the Japanese who are playing catch up to the Americans.

My Uncle always buys Chevy trucks runs them up to 150K over the course of 3 or 4 yrs and trades them in. He told me once the only thing he puts on them is tires and brakes.

American trucks are long-lasting and great for utilitarian purposes. I don't think anything could grunt through as much crap as a good 'ol F-series or Chevy. When it comes to a stiff ride, high performance, luxury, and comfort, though... I take issue with the US market. It has its niche, and foreign cars have theirs.

not to mention efficiency... american trucks are rugged and will stand the test of time... but they're gonna eat up that gas like crazy..

Oooh yeah. Our F-150 has two gas tanks, neither of which will last more than an hour- but then again we're pulling two horses and a trailer. Gotta love that...

Don't get me wrong, I think American trucks will always set the standard for a tough, powerful truck...I just think the Titan is going to make its presence known...Will it be the best truck? Probably not...You can't just go from building Frontiers to throwing down with a full-size truck and nail it on the first try...They're only making 100,000 units this first year of production, but if they can steal any sales from the Big Three they'll have been successful, especially if they take any of Ford's sales...I don't see them outperforming a comparable Ford, but Chevy has been playing catch-up with Ford and Dodge and they really haven't gotten anywhere, and the Dodges are becoming more style and less performance...The Titan might be able to take some Chevy and Dodge sales, and that'd be an accomplishment...

Ye olde Chevy 350...

...it can be empty, loaded, pulling a large trailer, uphill against the wind, downhill with the wind, dry, rain, snow, flat tire...

...12 miles to the gallon.

I've traditionally measured the fuel economy in trucks in "Gallons per mile" Even our Durango gets pathetic gas mileage (~16) with it's honkin' V8.

Re: Thinking About Selling the Sedan...

alderran, not busting on American vehicles. I just never got a chance to own one. Besides, the American vehicles I wanted were always out of my price range. I have heard many horror stories about life expectancy of American products, but they always seem to come from people who did not take very good care of their cars. I have always felt that if you want to keep a vehicle running good, proper maintenance is a must. Also driving style plays a big part too.

I have a friend who owns an El Camino with over 200K miles on the same transmission and engine, so I don't doubt the build quality of American products. Although it does seem that cars (foreign or domestic) these days are made with the cheapest and lowest bid materials. You get what you pay for.

Have you thought about a Toyora Tundra or the T100 plus or even the Tacoma off road?
