It looks bad, Awesome, Awesome. As good as ones with bodykit. Can I get a frontal view of rhe car? I guess I am gonna get my black pieces painted and then put on a set a BBS wheels. Thank you thank you, Ranthony, for contributing these pictures. One more question. Did your Mechanic take off the side sills when he painted? For the front and rear bumpers, did he take them off or did he paint them as they were on the car? How about the underside of the bumper, did he cover those areas? Sorrying for spilling out tons of question? Thank you very much.

I have to agree with Infiniti on this one. I know a lot of you guys like the painted sills, but every time I see pics of one it really makes the car seem fat from top to bottom. The black bottoms create the illusion of shaving 4 to 5 inches off the beltline of these cars, and in my opinion they really need that to avoid looking somewhat bloated. But as you said, to each his own.

 

Thanks man! I wanna get some wheels too. I was looking for a while but I saw too many wheels and didn't know which one to go with. I have a front view but not from the bottom but rather from the top. I have a clear bra on the car that covers the the bottom, the nose, the hood, part of the side fender and mirrors. I was trying to get pictures of the bra but the camera really didn't pick it up. My mechanic took the sides off but did not take the front and rear off. There is another car in the freshalloy forum that has a good picture of the front painted. I'll post it.

 

This is what inspired me..My frontend looks exactly like this one.

Ranthony- Thank you for posting all the sweet pictures.
Geespot- I believe Infinity will paint the black pieces sooner or later . Mercedes salespersons told me the same crap about the black pieces being black for some sort of functional purpose when I purchased my 98 E320 with black rubbers all around the bottom. However, couple years later, in 2000, they painted the black pieces to match the body color of the car as part of the minor change to the 2000 modle line. In short, don't believe whatever BS the salespeople are trying to feed you.

 

Can anyone in SO Cal or Orange County area recommend a good, trustworthy paint shop? Thank you. I wanna go ahead and get my ride painted.

Actually I haven't discussed this with any salespeople. I came to these conclusions while considering painting the lower body moldings on my own sedan.

I think Infiniti designers went with black lower sills for two reasons. First they most definitely give the illusion of slimming the somewhat chunky waistline and butt of the sedan. To my eyes, that is something the G35 really needed, especially on the lighter colored cars. Second, as easily as the FACTORY paint chips, I think they were also considering the greater durability and mar concealing qualities of the black plastic.

Based on all the pictures I have seen with painted lower sills I prefer the factory black moldings because of the slimming effect they lend to the chubby beltline and rear end. Just my two cents worth - your mileage and opinions may vary. : ) I am not knocking you or anyone else, just offering a different point of view.
