Re: Do all G35's come w/ black around the bottom ?

I have only had my G35 for 1 1/2 weeks, and I don't even notice the black bottom.

After the concrete I got on my previous car on a road trip that took a detail shop to get most of off, I think I will go with the greater possible durability of the black. As well as the splash guards I purchased.

"GGGGGGGGG... I thought you'd like this. Someone posted this on the FreshAlloy.com site. Painted lowers!!"

Please tell me those wheels were photoshopped on it as a joke! Seriously.

you all should have gotten black then. =). i never really notice mine. plus, if you paint it, it will chip from rocks and stuff. and the paint might even peel. more ugly then, and more costly too.

GeeSpot- you have a valid point about the black pieces being there for a reason. Anyways, no harm intended. It's just my preference that I don't like mine having the black pieces around the bottom, visually raising the car a bit.

Re: Do all G35's come w/ black around the bottom ?

In the end, there are many reasons why someone would feel one way or another about this. It all boils down to preference. I like the look of the painted lowers and so do many other G owners, Audi owners and others. This is not something new. If it's done right there won't be a problem with paint chipping. Most experienced body shops put a flex agent in the paint to help with this. There are so many other cars on the road with painted lowers straight out of the factory and some sit much lower than the G35. I couldn't see paying $$$ for the Aero kit. Suppose I did and the paint chipped on that? Those who make the argument about the look and the paint chipping ask yourselves, why is there an Aero kit option for the G35?

the good thing is that we all respect each others opinions. the reason i revived this thread was to get some more information. personally i didn't want to shell out 2K to get the body kit. but if for $500 i can achieve the same effect, then i'm more than willing to entertain the idea. thankfully tho, it's my car, and it will make *me* happy. thx to those who have noted the drawbacks. i think i will be taking a trip down to the custom body shop when the weather warms up.

"ask yourselves, why is there an Aero kit option for the G35?"

I think there are several reasons for this. First, some people like the way it looks. As GGGGGGG stated, it does have the positive visual effect of "lowering" the car. For me, this positive effect was offset by the negative (to me) visual effect of thickening the beltline and butt of the G.

Second, it is about $500 worth of stuff that Infiniti sells for $2500 - a sweet profit margin in anybodys book. : )

In the end it is all good, as this adds more variety to the world of G35's!!

your right it probably is about $500 worth of stuff. But how much is the real cost of any other kit. Sure the kit may be as cheap as $500 but you have to add the cost of instalation and the cost to paint it which would probably be another $700. although the nismo body kit is expensive, The thing I see about the kit is it fits perfectly. Doesn't scream aftermarket and will be covered under my insurance if something happens to it. and with everything, the price is a bargaining point.

It's a probably a different kind of plastic. The black panels are also textured. Plus, as mentioned in the previous post, the body kit is some of the most expensive plastic available for the car.
