Ran a G35 auto Sedan tonight...
Hi,
I own a 2k2 Acura TL Type S, and I ran w/ a G35 sedan tonight from two red lights... to 75mph we were effectively dead even. It all depended on who got the jump. I'm modded w/ exhaust headers and an intake, and the G was stock.
I'm very impressed, you guys have cool cars.

Thanks man-- the only serious competitor for my bucks (other than the 330) was the TL-S. I had to park them side-by-side at the Infiniti dealership to make my final choice You excited about the '04 model changes?? Going to bring quite a bit of attention to your badge...

Hehe, I was looking at an M, but I couldn't justify paying that much for a product I don't really need. I was going to get the new Performance Package on the 3, which would've taken the numbers up to those of the Coupe... but then I would've had to A) drive a Bimmer (after 4, we're a little disenchanted. Hello electrical problems), B) NOT drive a G.

I raced a CL type S at the track and he had headers, exhaust, and a CAI...I think he may have done some ECU work, but I can't rememeber what else he mumbled to me in passing...anyway, I ripped him off the line by a car length and then he caught me and ran a 14.7 to my 14.8 edging me by a nose. I was pissed at my time, and still am, but I was at least happy to know he edged me with all that stuff.
I have gone head to head with two TL Ss on the highway (please no preaching) and taken them both out pretty easy.
I was read to buy a TL S b/c they lease out for free next to the G, but after riding in two...I couldn't deal with the boat like ride when changing lanes, etc. The car is very nice though, and I am sure some springs, etc would tighten it right up. Good luck with it.

Yeah, our TypeS auto's suck after 110 mph .. 4th and 5th gears are way too tall to do any serious damage on the highway ..
You can't really do any ECU work to the TypeS .. the best you can do is tune the engine w/ the V-AFC which adjusts fuel and VTEC settings... I only have headers and the Icebox and I was able to slightly pull on this guy ...i could reel him in had i had more real estate...
Again, i'm a big fan of the G35... infiniti finally nutted up and created a monster seller of a car.
Thanks for the post

It's refreshing to see your post. Usually we get guys that come here and say crap like "I ran a G35 with my chevette and kicked its ***."..Just to start a flame war.
The TL Type S would have been a contender for me if it had the 6 sp.

Well, we'll see, Honda, not to be outdone, looks like the new TL may be even better than the G and the mildly modded TLs/CLs out there now...I am dissapointed there is no S line up, but maybe it won't be needed. That Accord flys as it is right now, so I am expecting bigger things, like LOW 14s from the new Acura. :-)
Competition breeds better competition!!!
Take care.
