Question regarding brake fluid level...
Hi,
I noticed the brake fluid level is about 1/4 under MAX. I had the same issue probably about 4 - 6 months ago (Don't recall when) but since that time I had refilled it with DOT3 brake fluid. Do you need to use Infiniti/Nissan specifics brake fluids because on the manual it said to use DOT3 or some heavy duty nissan fluid or something of that nature. Now I noticed it's 1/4 under MAX again, is that normal usage or some signs of brake issue?
My car is an 05x with about 9,700 miles. Brakes are fine and doesn't squeak. Couldn't see the front pads but the rear ones are fine.
Thanks...

As the break pads wear, the less fluid there will be in the reservoir. This is because it is in the break lines and pistons. By no means should you ever fill the fluid to the max line because when you change pads you have to push the pistons back into the caliper, when you do this you push the fluid back into the reservoir. If your reservoir is already full you'll overflow it. Just keep the fluid lever somewhere in the middle between the min and max lines, like what you do for the engine oil level.
The fluid should be clear to a very light yellowish color. The longer it's in there the darker is becomes because of use.
