It's funny I don't see Alan chiming in to defend any of the comments made about his department or past instances with him. Maybe I should just ask him in person when I go up there next week and see if he has a responce then...

Actually no!

I have over 50% left of my stock pads currently. But I was required or recommended to have a back up set for my Motor Sport Ranch event. Which left a solid coat of dust on my wheels with the stock pads and I still have 50% left!! I can get 40k~ or so out of these pads I am pretty sure with the events and daily driving.

I haven't personaly inspected mine, but the dealer said I had 5mm left and that was BEFORE the event.

I am surprised! I have autox since I had the car every month and MSR event. I have another MSR event at the end of May, Texas Motor Speedway and Autocross with the ZCCA convention. And I looked at the pads myself and compared them to the new ones and they had more than 1/2 the life left on them still! I do a lot of city driving too. Go figure.

Maybe the dealer is giving you bs just to make a sale?

No, it is not. Many companies (including my employer)require prepayment and they will not start manufacturing until funds have been received, especially on international orders. Mabuchi Motor(look it up) does that on my company's orders and requires 3 months lead time. We do more than $500K/year of business with them and been customer for years. This is serious business, not a shoe store.
Why would someone want to be stuck with thousands $ of aftermarket parts if you change your mind or don't feel like waiting anymore?
Solution is easy-call ahead and ask if parts are in stock. I did that and had no problems with Grubbs.

HAHA!! You just lost any respect I had for Grubbs. I'll never buy anything from a company who sells online but says they are NOT an 'online parts company'. What a joke!

If you have ever tried to buy something at an autoparts store that is not normaly stocked/special order, you must pay up front. It's SOP.
