Painting side sills

Asked body shop to paint my side sills and they said the paint won't hold up well and may eventually chip off! I've seen numerous pics of Gs in this forum with painted side sills and was wondering if anyone had experienced paint peeling or chipping. The extra paint really adds to the look of the car and since the shop is already repairing my G thought it would be a good time to do it.

i think u should get them painted it makes a big difference to the look of the car. i had my side sill replaced wen i put on the gialla corsa kit, but it's painted too, so far no prob as long as u don't scrape it

My side sills aren't painted cause I fully agree with your body shop. I won't take the risk on a car I plan on keeping more than 4 years.

That is simply ridiculous. Your body shop simply doesn't know what they are doing. I had an Accord and had the same thing done before with no problems after 5+ years. No chipping what-so-ever.

All they have to do is put some flex agent in the paint. If they know what they are doing, then it will turn out just fine.

I'm getting mine done soon as well.

Thanks for the input. Now if I can get them to do it for a reasonable price. I figured since they will already be painting other parts of the car it should not take much labor and paint to do the side sills and lower rear bumper section. I'll ask about the flex agent in the paint!

Just looked at your ride in your profile. I have the same color G as you! My windows are tinted as well. Good looking ride, especially like the wheels. Mine came with a spoiler and tinted wndows but neither of these were listed on the window sticker. Kinda wondered about this, since the spoiler is around $500 and the tint must have been a few hundred bucks. I'll have to ask the dealer about it. I even thought that the car may have been sold and returned to the dealer, but VIN check did not show anything. Unusual though!
