service engine light soon ??? Confirmation on actual engine failure or just warning
Hey guys
My 05 G35x's service engine light came on this morning at 75xx miles. I come from an Acura/Lexus family, for them, the service engine light comes on when it gets close to the maintenance window, 15k/25k/etc. And you can just reset it.
But I looked at the Infiniti's service manual and searched this forum, if I am correct, for Infinitis, this light means something is actually wrong with the engine. Can anyone confirm that? Or does everyone's service engine light turns on at 7500, 15k, 25k, etc
Oh and yes I plan on calling my infiniti dealer, but I am going away on business for a week and dont want to have this question in my mind the whole time.....
Thanks

Steady CEL means an emissions component failure and the car will drive fine. More often then not this is related to not installing the gas cap tight enough (three clicks). A flashing CEL means there is something major wrong with the car and that it shoudl be turned off as soon as safely possible.
