HELP!! The G died on me tonight

03.5 Automatic Sedan;

Got my G back from the dealership this morning, they changed the oil, brakes, and performed the fuel hose recall.

Driving home at night on a residential street *thank god*....

The car begins to sputter a little bit, then the engine dies. I restart the engine, go about 2 feet and it begins to make this sputtering noise...kind of like a slapping noise and the whole car begins to shake violently and LOUD and the slapping noise just intensifies until the engine dies/shuts off again.

So now I am stopped in the middle of the street with the engine off. I start the car one more time to get off to the side and it begins to make the same violent and loud slapping thud noise while the car begins to shake and jerk violently. Interestingly, there were no error messages on the dash or anything

When the tow truck guy came, finally after an hour, he inspected the oil and said it was fine. Then I tried to start the car to see what he could make it out and it wouldn't even start. He said it didn't sound good at all, it could be a bad timing belt, or maybe even a thrown rod...who knows

What do you guys think? Any thoughts?

hmmm... random that it doesnt throw a code... i would assume something like that would throw a code... i wonder if the fuel recall had anything to do with it... if you starve your car of fuel then a massive misfire would happen

I dunno, I'm starting to think them doing the fuel hose recall and the problem I had with my car are not a coincidence.

hope you still under warranty...my best guess would be something electrical maybe if the dealer messed with the computer to reset it due to the fuel recall....good luck let us know what was the outcome

They towed it to the dealer and it's sitting there right now, tomorrow morning I gotta head over there and straighten this mess out. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

It's strange that there is no CEL. Bad sensors can make a car run extremely bad but that should throw a code. Is there a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust?

Good thing you sold off all your mods- or this would be a complicated situation. Get it to the dealer, and enjoy putting free miles on their loaner!
