A G35 with M45 HORSEPOWER hmm...

Work with me, a slightly larger G35 with more backseat space, 340hp, roughly 300 ft/lbs of torque. What an animal this would be!!! Imagine the same handling, with an slightly improved a interior, (remember we don't want cost to soar!) stock 18" mags, optional all wheel drive..
Lets say maybe $41K, loaded $45K.

How many of you would be interested... Where do I sign!

Just wait until GT-R comes out for more power, until then, you won't see it.

The car you described sounds just like a M45. Why not get one of those?

I seriously doubt the M45 handles like the G35 plus its styling is for a more mature driver -45 plus. Too square, the lines are clearly not sporty. The M45 is not geared to be sporty.

Re: A G35 with M45 HORSEPOWER hmm...

engineers that design these cars take into a bunch of factors as to the size and shape the car should be.. u can't really take a car and blow it up by a few inches here and there and expect to get the same performance.. it would change the car.. but they are coming out with the g35 wagon, so maybe it's possible.. but i doubt the wagon will handle just like the sedan or coupe. the m45 has a v8 engine, which would probably necessitate a different exhaust system, possible chassis changes (although not much), and front end design to accomodate the engine. i think it would change the look of the g35 at least enough to consider it a different car. if they wanted a v8 g, they would've made the m45 a larger g.. but they didn't.. actually, i hear the m45 isn't all that more larger in the interior than the g.. nor is the trunk space that much more spacious.. it just has a few more luxurious features.. but feels like a tank.. have any of you been in an m45? makes me feel 30 years older.. it's like being in an old model cadillac.

Re: A G35 with M45 HORSEPOWER hmm...

My point exactly, I have been in the M45, it s actually a handsome car, its line are very boxy. Engineers could design my dream G35. I truly believe there is wider market for a 6 cylinder car priced at the mid 30K price rather than a 40K plus car. Infiniti would sell more at the 30 k price than at the 40K price. The 30K market is much larger. BMW has been doing it for years (the 3 and 5 series) It could be done, yes its more of an engineering challenge but it is quite feasible.

I do not think my idea is unreasonable or unachievable.

well, if they can fit a v6 in a volkswgen golf hatch, im betting they can fit the Q's 4.5 V8 under the hood of a gsedan or coupe. Of course i would have to be modified to fit, but, then you start hearing of twin engine hyuadai's v8 mazda rx-7's and the like. Yes, they would probably have a different name, possible G45 ? ) but who can complain? Imagine standard sport-package equiped, interior upgrade, maybe a little chasis tuning as to make sure the handling is not messed up, and voila! you have a BMW M3, mercedes c32, cadilac CTS V-seiries, Auidi S4, fighting machine.

The VR6 only fits in the Golf because it's compact with only a 15-degree angle. Same with the W8 in the Passat - think two VR4's slapped together. Nissan/Infiniti would have to design a new V8 (or W8) from scratch to make it fit in the existing G35 engine bay.

Like I said, just wait a couple of years and we will have the GT-R, It won't be a V-8 but will have much more power than the 4.5 with either twin-turbos or a super charger.

where did you hear that te gt-r wouldn't have a v8? from wht i heard, the gt-r would have a v8 engine. Also the looks of the current gt-r prototype look kinda disgusting. The thing doesn't deserve to be called a skyline.

You are probably right about the target age group. However, I still think it's just a step up on size from the G35-And I think the M45 with the 19s looks pretty damn sweet. And the interior is sweet.

While I would never want the G35 to become larger than it already is, I would be into a G35 powered by the 4.5- That would be a hell of a runner.

The M45 just won the 55K comparo and they praised it's handling...

Disagree - I think the M45 is a VERY sporty full-size car with the grunt and moves to go with.

Have heard nothing about a G35 wagon. Where are you reading this? I know Infiniti has plans to launch a small SUV line in the future, but haven't seen anything called the G35 wagon...
