looking at it logically, wouldn't that hinder exhaust velosity? maybe they designed it to flow around that? i asked because on my third dyno pull, that a/f reader was pulled from the tail pipe and it showed about a 5hp increase......sacraficing a little hp for noice reduction?

I dont think losing a few HP is a concern to his aunt. Seems more like shes looking for a nice quite luxury ride...which meant she should of gotten something else. Did she even test drive the car? I know I didn't and I was pleasently surprised by the exahust note on my 06.

I'd say to tell her to give it a few weeks. I remember the first time I sat in a sedan in the passenger seat (before I bought my car), I thought it was loud as well. Now, after having mine for over a year, I kinda don't even notice it too much unless I press on it.

No offense...but those totally kill the look of a nice Stillen. I'd live w/ the noise .

Your pretty much out of luck, the G35 by nature is a loud car (compared to mercedes or lexus).

Hey man, I live in the 626 area code too. I have a 04 which is quieter than the 05/06 because of the more restrictive mid-pipe. Does your aunt want to trade and willing to pay for the labor?
I wish my car has more aggresive sound.

your adding weight with the dynamat as well!

those things ma_sha1 suggested would cut back hp, but I dont think it your aunt will notice the difference. sounds like he easiest way to go/least risk

quiet

There is always a compromise somewhere.
Some folks sold their stillen because it's too loud, I am trying to keep it by quiet it down. The CC muffer inset worked well, no noticable drop in power as it's high flow insert, notice the holes around the center pipe? Better than the
silencers came with some exhaust systems.
I kind like the look, looks like opening of a machine gun.

Alternatively,
You could try this Wrap kit as well,

it will acutually add HP because
it keep exhaust flow hotter inside & faster.

The wrapped area will be is under the car, between muffer & Cat.
My local shop recommended it. I ordered a kit, will try it to make the Stillen even quieter.

I think some guys might have a problem with the wrapped look, but the sound is more important to me at this point, plus, I can't see what's under the car anyways. I don't like waking up neighners in the morning when I fire up the stillen.

I was suggesting to swap the mid-pipe.
