***Help Please*** 350z suspension put on my 2005 Sedan has now created a Loud rattle

Sorry this is a double post but I would like to get some advice before taking it back to the shop. I posted here, just incase knowledgeable members don't check the suspension forum

The shop I took it too is very skilled at suspensions and have done many G35 and 350Z
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just got 2005 full 350z suspension put on my 2005 Sedan and now has started rattling in the Rear Passenger.

Somewhere along the way home 15 miles into my drive the car started a rattle/creak in the rear passenger only(sounds like somethings loose whenever I hit even the softest bump). I got home and took out the box of old suspension parts and tire/lug nut case and took it for a spin again (thought that was the cause). But the rattling is still there??? Please assist!!! I called the shop back but of course it didn't rattle when the mechanic test drove it and they can't help until they see the car again tomorrow.

Suspension is on and so far has dropped the front 1in (+-) and the rear seems 1/2-3/4th of a drop.

2005 Z and G sways were exactly the same thickness so the Z's are still in the box and my OEM are staying on the car(for now)

If I can get this rattling fixed, this was a great mod.

I will post pictures once I get all of this resolved!!

Suspension was 2005 oem 350Z springs and struts/shocks (spring rates 314/427) and my car is 2005 G35 sedan without sport suspension (spring rates 238/308)

The shop changed out full suspension minus sways and rattling/creaking started 15 miles into the drive home. Please assist

Well, it's impossible not to install the rear springs correctly. My bet is that they didn't fully tighten the bolts to the shock tower, and it is wiggling around.

Drive carefully or don't drive at all until they fix this. It shouldn't be more than 5 minutes for them to take off your wheel and verify that the suspension is correctly in place and that all bolts are torqued down.

Let us know how this pans out.

My car looks great with the 350 suspension on it. RZ put it on yesterday but on my way home I started to notice a loud rattling from the rear passenger. I thought it might had been my OEM suspension in the trunk and kept going. I got home, took out the suspension and the ratling was still there?? I brought it back to them today and when the took a look at it, to their surprise one of the bolts from my rear shock tower had broken off?? After 1 hour they fixed it as good as new and it is still riding/looking great.

Just think though, I drove over 100 miles on only one rear shock bolt. Wow

well, I remember hitting a real hard bump on the 408 and think man that sucked and then I started hearing the noise. I heard rattling and stopped on the side of the road, laid onto the asphalt and looked under the car in that general noise making area. I then opened my trunk and thought the sways were the problem.

In order for me to take those pictures above (or even look at the top shock tower) The wheel has to be removed and my head was inside my wheel well. The shop test drove it about 5-10 miles before releasing me the car ad did not hear or see a problem.

Not sure why it my OEM bolt snapped but, Yes i am glad that the other one held on.

Looks to me like the shop isn't too competent What most likely happened is they mounted the shocks at the bottom and then noticed the shock hat was slightly twisted so then twisted the shock housing a bit to make it fit it instead of simply loosening the shock hat nut and adjusting the shock hat. When they lowered the car back down, the compression of the suspension began to heavily torque shock hat and bolts. You then hit a big bump and that snapped the rather thin bolt. I've seen this happen on other cars from botched installs.

Luckily the shock bears no load in supporting the car's weight or the suspension so driving around like you did wasn't that unsafe.

^^^+1. I was thinking the same thing when they showed me. I was there watching for the entire re-install process and things went on smoothly and haven't had no problems yet
