WTF?! I Blew My STOCK Engine!

As some of you guys know, I had some engine troubles back on April 26th and had to have the G towed to the dealer. I have no mods on the car.

Well, I went over to the dealer today and my service consultant told me that a piece of metal got loose in the engine and it got stuck in there. It's going to need a new engine now.

I was in shock to learn this just because the engine only has 34k miles, and it's an automatic. Not to mention the car was always regularly serviced by the dealer. I went over to my car and saw for myself, the engine has been removed from the car and is awaiting a new one.

Thank god it's covered under warranty...so I'm not paying anything out of pocket. But I'm still a little suspicious that the engine malfunctioned a few hours after getting the car back from the dealer for an oil change and the fuel hose recall.

Has anyone else ever blown their stock engine? Thanks a lot guys.

I believe it's 4 years, 60k miles...whatever happens first. I'm at 3 years and 34k miles, so I'm covered.

Nope. Powertrain coverage is 6 years or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Woohoo . . . Good thing your car was still under warranty. Hehehe . . . I am sure that you will not mind breaking in another engine.

hmm stupid question, but could they put in the 280HP version? Or Nissan actually keeps 260HP version of the VQ in stock?

Look at the positives, you're in a new loaner and your dealer provided the type of customer service you expect by replacing the motor under warranty. I'm sure incidents similiar to yours have happened in the past though I haven't heard of them. I'd feel comfortable knowing you're getting a new motor after you enjoyed your last for 34k miles and that this is a highly unusual incident. With 56k on my motor I'd be happy yo be in your situation. Go break in a new motor!
