Maybe you need to work on your launches and beat that ECU back into submission. You have 9K miles on the G, by now the ecu is used to your lazy drives to and from work each day. While your friend has 2k miles and the ECU may still be learning his driving style. You need to drive the G hard for a good 30 minutes before you take on the BMW again, then see what happens. I took on my buddys 06 330I in my 06 G sedan a few nights ago at the track, both stock and MT as well, left the poor boy in my dust in 2nd gear. Although I have to admit I've got a lot more track time than my friend and have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to gauge with my butt dyno where the proper shift points are to maximize HP and speed. It's also important to remember that the engines and power/weight ratios in the G and BMW are fairly comprable, so really it does come down to who is the better driver. Nonetheless the 330i is and will always be a scary fast car in the right hands. Another tip might be to race with a 1/4 tank or less of gas, why take on the extra weight
BUt i do step on the gas as soon as i say go or he says go! my damn thing takes too long to respond, maybe youre right i normally never really floor it on my commutes. Has the computer really gone that far into submission? I feel a difference when i step on the bmw throttle. I get instantaneous response.
Also ignore part two-it looks like i stepped on the gas 1 sec cause my wheels spun so that one didnt count.
That PART ONE was my absolute best launch that night. I actually took off a tiny bit before he could react and i pulled ahead but then freakin by 45 mph he caught up and slowly started to pull away. Btw- he drives like a maniac, i rode with him the other day and he redlined it 5 times in just a few min...Its fun but with those gas prices....

It's not like it totally slaughtered the auto G anyway. It's only about a carlength. Sounds about right to me.
Back on topic, I viewed those streetfire videos last night and was not really surprised at the outcome but, I was surprised at the margin.

You should try to drive on Tip-tronic, its not a manuel but with high speeds it can let your rpm stay high giving you a faster reaction. 330i dont bother me at all. Mike jan congrads on the car, whenever you get better on driving I would like to run. MT are fun to drive, I had a rsx-s before, and loved it. Anyway let me know.

Can't wait to get it.
