I've launched my car plenty of times to have a feel for it. This winter I will take the car to the track when temps are in the 60s.

I love those cars. My buddies have a couple new edge 5MT Stangs. They both ran 14.1s stock. Good luck on the runs this Fall.

I'm with SixFive on this one, 8 times out of 10, I'm certain I'll be a similiarly modded G35 6MT. I've always been dead on about this car when I said it would run 14.4s in warm weather and 14.3s in cool weather stock (unless you believe a Z-pipe adds power). I'm pretty certain my 5AT will run 14.2s, possibly a 14.1 with the spacer which is faster than 95% of the modded NA G35s (5AT or 6MT) on this site.

This all makes sense since trap speeds are an indicator of power. 6MT's will put more power to the ground as a result of the autos higher drivetrain loss. But that being said, autos are king of the track with a very large majority of fast cars being auto. Same applies to the street. With a good TC and some sticky tires, autos can do very well on the street.
How are you having problems with wheel spin on a 05 Auto? Most of what I read here is a small chirp is about the most you can expect from an auto launch.

) but that shouldn't make that much of a different. That said, severe wheel spin shouldn't be a problem if launched correctly... enough brake torquing to chip and offer an aggressive launch without being overly aggressive.
With my 245-40-19 RE050s, I can't get chit for a chirp. I managed to get some 1 legged spin out of my left rear but it was nothing like you describe.
Unfortunately, I didn't try this with my 215-55-17s for comparison.

I used 235/45/17's. Not as aggressive as your no doubt, but still I am able to get some pretty decent spin if I really wanted to. (And I donno about you guys since it sounds like alotta you can only get chirps when brake torquing, but I dont have to brake torque to chip I've found. Though brake torquing will give the better launch anyway.)
i used to burn my tires with my stockers (brake tq) now its a little harder with the dunlops, those are pretty hard and even brake tqing i barely make them burn for a couple of feet

My best ET/MPH was in near sea level like conditions so there's no correcting needed. I've NEVER contended that the 5AT was the faster car, but it's not remotely as slow as people think. SixFive, BossSho, and myself have proven this. In a 1/4 mile race, mod for mod, and on regular tires, it should be damn close. I've been watching G35s and 350Zs race at my track since 2002. I know what they're capable of at my track.
As for racing on the street, it's ABSOLUTELY meaningless. If you outreact the other driver by just a mere 0.5 seconds (something you really couldn't even see), you'll have a huge advantage. HUGE. Racing on the strip tells the truth. Everytime.

In this article, the Motor Trend guys apparently got better numbers with the
2005 G35 auto over the 2006 BMW....as far as 1/4mile and 0 to 60...
14.7 sec @ 95.1 mph(BMW)14.7 sec @ 95.9 mph(G35)
0-60 6.6(BMW) 6.5(G35)
same specs as the 2005 model....
