Getting a new car in a few months, 2007 G35 Sedan is on the list.

Trying to decide. I have a few cars on the list: 2006 Audi A4 2.0 Quattro Manual, 2007 Infiniti G35 6MT and 2007 Subaru Legacy GT Spec B.

I'm leaning towards the infiniti and legacy at the moment. Spec B comes with mostly everything standard so it'll probably be about $35k out the door. If the options are similar and priced about the same as 2006, I'd probably be looking to get a G35 otd for about $40k+. Most of you probably think these two cars are comparing apples and oranges but I'm still having a hard time deciding.

You'll be able to get a fully loaded 2007 G35 with just about every option minus the NAV for around $35K. The Infiniti M35 can be had for around $43K nicely equipped, so the G has to remain $8-10K less.

The 2.0 Audi Quattro will feel sluggish compared to either of the other 2 vehicles. I love Audi's, but not the 2.0 Quattro. In all honesty, I'd prefer an Acura TSX to the Audi 2.0, but that's just me. The Subaru Legacy GT is far superior to the Audi Quattro as well. It won't out perform or outhandle the G35, but it's good AWD option. I'm curious why you're comparing 2 AWD models to a 6-sp G35? Why not try out the G35x?

I guess G35x is an option for me as well but at the moment, Manual > AWD. I was under the impression that the G35x doesn't come in manual? Will this be any different for 2007?

I don't think that getting a 2007 G35 for $35k with every option minus the NAV will be possible (2006, there would be no question). NAV is somethign I want and it is standard on the Spec B.

Since it seems like the engine is supposedly 80% new, I'm thinking t'll be a while until aftermarket comes out with FI additions to the 2007 G35 and of course it would be $5k starting for just the parts. However, my friends own a Subaru performance shop and has accounts with dealerships and aftermarket companies as well. So modification parts would be cheap and labor would be almost free. It'd probably cost me $1k to get the legacy to STI power.

But, I've loved the G series before I became interested in Subaru cars. Though it would definitely be more expensive, just thinking about having a FI modified G35 gives me goosebumps. If the initial cost between the cars and the cost it would take to modify them were less, I wouldn't have any trouble deciding.

I gotta say that it's unreasonable to speculate on prices of the 07 g just yet. If I were in your place, I would seriously consider the the subie. Especially when one considers the aftermarket $/hp factor.

And what is this opinion based on, if you don't mind my asking?

I've never raced a legacy at the local drag strips, but they're reasonably quick cars stock, and pretty cheap to make even quicker. However, at the last local autocross I attended(didn't participate this time), a legacy gt totally owned the ESP class, which is what I would have been competing in had I participated. He was putting down times in the high 49 second to low 51 second range. Based on how my times have compared to other drivers in the past, I would predict I would have been putting down 54's. That's a pretty big difference.

My opinion is based on me personally driving all of the cars he mentioned. The Audi 2.0 is borderline gutless. It has as much pickup as a Mazda3.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to purchase a car earlier than planned... so... I ended up getting a 2006 FX35.

That new "orange" looks so much better than the previous one that matched the Z, great improvement! IMO

Good luck finding a Spec B, they only brought a few hundred of them stateside. They are a good car, but horrible on gas. Expect very low 20's. Also they are nowhere near as refined engine-wise. the boxer engines are great powerplants, but have an odd sound to them that is not entirely endearing. Especially when compared to the silken rip of the VQ.

I also sincerely wish infiniti would wise up and offer a manual G35x, but I doubt it will happen. It's like wishing for an AWD option on the VW GTI. It makes so much sense, but it will never happen because the company is dead-set against it.
