2007 G35 vs BMW 335 Sedan!
#16
I remember reading an article on VWvortex.com comparing the old 2.7TT Audi S4 to the newer V8 S4. Even though the V8 S4 has more HP and TQ the older Turbo version was faster running from the same gear to a certain speed. For example from 0-60 the V8 was faster because you are revving the hell out of it, but the Turbo S4 was faster from 30-50, 50-80 and almost the same from 80-120 in high gears (something like that i dont remember the exact numbers). Thats where turbo makes a difference for a daily driver car... Its just easier to drive and u dont have to rev the engine high to move it. I will try to find the article and post it... It was a good read.

It is very true. My best friend traded in his 01' S4 for a 05' S4. On the auto-x and mountain driving he says his old one was way better. If he would have put a chip on it the old one would have had almost as much power as the new one anyway.
I still vote for the new body style and interior! The recaros are awesome.

I would take the 335 sedan over the G if you have the money. Yes for the price difference you could add a SC or turbo kit but I'm sure a chip will be out for the 335 that gives it a big jump too keeping the rest of the car stock.
You have to realize it is a lot more money which makes it hard to compare the two. Value wise the G is a much better buy.

Edit: I found the article It was on Audiworld.com
The tests that were done in 3rd gear gave the V8 the edge because its made it closer in the sweet powerband. Although the 2.7TT didnt lost by much in the 30-50 and 40-70 in 3rd gear.
Now look at the test that were done at topgear... The 2.7TT did beat the V8 even though its down 80HP and around that number in TQ.
Its an interesting read... They also throw a chipped S4 there for comparison.

Here are some things I found on the 335TT... Hope this clears some things up...
I think the 335 is going to be a great car actually and will beat the G35 in a straight line fairly easily...
This does not change the fact that I love my "G" and will not be buying a 335 (my wife drives a '06 E90 330i)

I think a 4-way between the '07's G35, S4, IS350 and a 330i would make for a great article - but then again when is a 4-way not

I'm sure the G35 will not finish last, but based on previous articles - it will most-likely not be in 1st either unless $$$ is weighed more in the decision.

I know this is the G v.s. 3 thread, but just thought you guys might like to know Acura will be turning up the heat also with the 2007 TL Type-S http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0e2cd1
Yes, you read that right. Acura is brining the Type-S back. In this case, with 286 hp and 256 lb-tq. Price will probably be about 2-3K over base TL, and upgrades include suspension, carbon fiber trim, rims, quad exhaust, etc.
Does this mean there's something to worry about? No, not really, cosidering the TL is still FWD, but admittedly, it's not a bad car. Just something to think about.

Not sure why Honda still sticks w/FWD to this day - it just sucks w/this kind of power regardless of equal 1/2 shafts, LSD, ect...

I'm sure the $35k-45k sport sedan comparos will be brought up in auto magazines in fall again. I am hoping to see the 07 G35, 07 IS350, 07 335i sedan, 07 TL Type-S, 07 Mercedes C350 and 07 Audi S4. Obviously the S4 is the sore thumb of the group as it is the only one with a V8 but its the also only Audi close to the $35-45k price range that can compete performance-wise against the other sedans (the 3.2 A4 just isn't enough IMO). I remember last year's comparison by C&D where the A4 was 5th out of 8 (saved by Volvo, Caddy and Saab) and somehow the Benz C350 wasn't included . And even though the V8 S4 has the most power at 340 (also the most $$$), I'm gonna go ahead and predict it probably won't be 1st or 2nd in the comparison. I think 335i will win as always but this time they might actually deserve it thanks to those twin turbos.
