Arrow 2007 G35 vs BMW 335 Sedan!

Hi,

I don't know if this has been posted before...

I think that the G35 would have won against the 330 in comparisons..but BMW tricked us out and announced the 335 Sedan so it remains the king of sports sedans. Do you think the new G35 can beat the BMW now, like it did in 2003???

Haha, excellent question...someone had to start the comparo thread. Anyhow, it always goes back to the point: "the bimmer costs 8K more" That's what they always say in the mags anyway, when comparing the two.

Personally, I think the two are going to have very diferent characters, but the Bimmer will probably edge the G out. Just barely. And then the editors will blame it on the price again.

I agree...

I think that 300 torque will be the reason why the BMW will win in performance. And BMW is such a great car and brand some people won't care about that difference. When you spread it over 5 years/60 payments it's not much of a difference.

BUT for us modders....If we were to place the $8k in savings....say....half into the engine... Charger maybe...super or turbo, your preference

THEN the BMW won't stand a chance!

That's what I like, having that choice. So i'm sticking with the G. Can't afford 335i anyway. Donations??

disagreed. if the N54 lower end is strong and the ECU is at all friendly, simple (read: cheap) mods will allow the 335 to give all nissan (save gt-r) owners a lot of trouble.

The G probably won't stand a chance in terms of performance stock for stock.
I mean the G got big praise in 2003 because it is relatively cheap to the 3 series, but it didnt win all of the comparisons (260hp vs 225hp).

Now that the 335i (sedan or coupe) both have the 3.0L turbo engine..... with 307hp right there with the G, I am not so sure.... It will get praise but performance wise, can it still match the bimmer?! In terms of acceleration, bimmers always have pretty good times even though their claimed HP looks low. Now that the ratings are neck to neck, the G might be slightly slower due to drivetrain loss and stuff. Handling.... not much need to be said...

In fact magazines should compare the 328 to the G35 because they will have similar prices. But they won't of course! Because they are searching for the car that overthrows the 3. So they will justify $10,000 premium for the 335, and I think the 3 will win by one point or so in most comparisons.

Now if it was a G37 it would have won I think.

The new g35 wont be able to hang w/ a 300 torque monster, with a curb weight of 3500. But that's a lot of car to pay for, 41K is the starting price and the car doesn't come w/ a LSD.

The new BMW TT6 335 engine is the reason im thinking to buy a 335 or hopefully 535 because i need the extra space. I mean 300TQ from 1900-5500 RPM would be perfect and a breeze to drive for a daily cruiser.

I'm sure the G35 should be able to hang with the 335 (stock to stock) but the BMW should outperform (low 5 sec car to 60mph). One advantage on the BMW is to boost the turbos for noticeable HP gain.

also, what is up with the 07 G sedan having 306 hp in both auto and 6spd and the coupe having the lower numbers?

That will only be the case for the 07 model year. When the new coupe is released next spring as an 08 model, expect an increase in HP just like the sedan.....however no one knows yet how much that will be.
