The S4 starts at 45k, I agree of the Audi's it's the only one that'll compete in that group, but the way C&D gets them it'll likely be 52k as tested, whereas the 335i (which will likely be the next most expensive) will be ~44-45k.

Hilariously, I think you're right - aside from the interior (which is absolutely stunning, BTW) the S4 is probably going to get schooled by the BMW even in straight line performance (initial road tests of the 335i are in the 5.1-5.3s to 60, and 13.4-13.6s 1/4 mile range), nevermind that it'll be lighter and probably handle better (and be significantly cheaper). That said, putting an S4 against the G35 sedan is going to make it tough for the G.
