While it looks like the new G still won't have bimmer driveability, it looks like the gap is getting closer at least. Isn't competitition a wonderful thing.
I was particularly surprised to hear the positive review of the gearbox. Especially when the bmw's, in comparison, is considered "rubbery." The bmw, s2000, and rx8 gearboxes were always the benchmark.

i agree with Car and Driver, when I was shopping back in 12/2003, i drove a manual 3 series and I liked the feel of the G much much better (the 3 had too much slop, longer throws, etc), it may be a personal preference, but I think the G 6 speed is awesome and better than the 3 series
There's much more than 0 - 60 times to consider.
