Wait a minute. Motor Trend ranks the G35 behind the 3 series while Edmunds, of all car reviewers, ranks them equal to and even ahead of the 3 series in some aspects. Did I just step into a parellel universe?

Although I'm still getting the "I like it sometimes and dislike it at others" feeling, I'm beginning to realize some pic's makes the car look bland because it hides the details of the body. Some pic's as well as this video shows how nice this car looks. Sort of looks like an M. One shot from the front even reminded me of the current Q. Still, that particular front bumber doesnt look rite unless your viewing it directly from the front.

But, if the paddles do not move with the wheel, you will always know were the paddles are: they are at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions!
................
With a proper 9-3 method there is no recentering
Your hands never leave that poistion.

On a hard corner requiring more input you cross over to the same 9 or 3 position.
The most commonly taught performance driving method is maintaining 9-3

Also, where are the paddles mounted on race cars..... the wheel.
The idea is that you don't take your hand off the wheel to find the paddle... it's right there at your fingers.

It really depends on the meathod being used,
and for the everyday, untrained driver you are probably right column mount is best.

JMO, but after autoxing an M3 SMG, I just know they won't be the best for me.
I want the paddles where my hands are....... always at 9-3

I saw screw those flappy paddles and just get the proper manual. There is pro/cons to each paddle placement position. Your hands should stay in the 9-3 position for as long as possible. However, on sharp turns this is not possible. I think it would be better to have a shift lever next to the wheel.

Of course, it is quite possible to have Nissan/Infiniti rework the VK45DE to put out over 350-360 hp. Heck, I'm sure that just raising the CR a few points should do wonders.

I agree. If the G37 puts out anywhere near 335hp, Infiniti would definitely need to up the power on the VK45DE to about 350hp. Torque is where the VK45DE shows its worth, though.

Really?
Because I thought Edmund's has been notoriously known for being anti-Nissan.
One good review is not going to change that in my book.

Edmunds is totally biased against nissan. Wait until the direct comparison between the G and 3 happens. Then you will see what Edmunds is really about.

And people thought I was insane when I said the new G35 auto would be a 13-second ride. FYI, Infiniti notes that the 5AT's performance is now right in line with that of the 6MT.

As for the paddle shift placement. If you're already in the turn, you should have shifted a long time ago. You don't shift in a turn. Period.

Generally, yes you should be into the right gear before hand.
However, on long sweepers you'll be shifting..
