That's just cheesy (and yes, I know it's that way on the M too, and it's cheesy there too). I'll just have to see and drive one, like everyone else, to decide whether the performance of the car outweighs the questionable eye candy.

Making a rear spoiler optional with Sport models in the U.S. (if not in Canada) is nothing but good for us geezers who favor the clean and simple look in their cars. As it is, the trunk area of the '07 G35 Sport will have (a) an Infiniti logo, (b) the brand name spelled out, (c) A "G35S" emblem, with the "S" in red, and (d) a useless slab of chrome along the lip of the trunk lid. Does it really need the additional visual clutter of a wing spoiler? C'mon. I've been looking forward to the '07 G35 for its promise of mechanical and electronic goodness, but I'm staring to wonder if Nissan will spoil it with over-the-top visuals. However I'm not with you on the "under 40" spolier issue though. That still makes me laugh.

Thanks DWP. I just loved that.
I totally agree with you and I'm only a 35 year old geezer! Don't blow an otherwise elegant looking car with too much bling.

In this article, Edmunds made it a point to mention that their test G35 Sport did not have the rear spoiler:

All I did was use PS's smudge and stamp tools. I worked off of the high-res version. Then I shrunk it, so you can't see how crappy the results were. I bet the 2008 sedans will have that chrome removed. I don't understand why companies still believe so much in chrome this, chrome that.

I really don't mind the chrome lip on the trunk too much when there is no spoiler. I definitely think it should of been removed when you get the rear spoiler option.
Actually, now that I see how the trunk lid looks without the chrome, it doesn't look quite right to me - too much vertical space, or something. Perhaps the chrome strip visually lowers the top of the trunk. Not every stylist is like Chris Bangle - some actually know what they're doing, and just maybe the Nissan stylists know what they're doing. Well, if I don't like the chrome strip in person, I can always ask the stealership how much their body shop would charge to paint it in the body color. That would still leave a seam, though.

(please take the photochopping with a grain of sand)

Oh god, please make it a separate add-on.

Mandatory spoileritis seems to be a spreading disease. Want a Mustang V8 without a spoiler? Sorry. Want a Honda Civic Si without one? Tough. Luckily, the Word spec sheet for the '07 G35 is pretty clear that the rear spoiler is an option on Sport models. Actually finding a Sport model in dealer inventory without a spoiler will be another matter entirely. Removing an "optional" spoiler won't be practical, because (a) you'll have two or more holes in the trunk, and (b) the car won't have brake lights unless they are kludge-installed someplace else.
