1st year model of the new gen

Hey guys...just wondering if any of you are worried about purchasing the first go-round of the 2nd generation G35s. I purchased the 2003s, which I was happy with, but then they revised and fixed all the problems with it starting in 2004. I think I'm gonna wait to see if there are any kinks with the 2007s and wait for the bugs to be worked out with a 2008 possibly. I especially was disappointed when the 2005s were bumped up to 298hp. Maybe the 2008 will be more than 303hp to be comparable with the coupe coming out.

it looks like we'll be seeing revised internals every other year. so if you're going to wait on that basis, you'll be waiting forever.

Question What would upset you more?

Yea I agree, you will be waiting forever if you wait for them to fix everything. I think I am going to go in and say when you can do $500 over invoice(What I got my 05 for) give me a call and I will come and get one. I am in no hurry to get it right now. Well actually I would love to be the first one to have one I just can’t afford the premium price you will pay right now. My gut says that these cars will be selling close to invoice around August of 07. Right before the 08’s come out. I wouldn’t think that there will be any major changes for 08 although there are a lot of G37 rumors.

Question: What would upset you more? If you had bought an 04 G35 and then they came out with the 298 HP 05 G35 the next day. Or if you bought an 07 G35 and then they came out with a 330 HP G37 the next day. The HP difference is about the same. However, the 07 is extremely fast as it is. I couldn’t imagine how fast that G37 could be.

I would hardly say that all of the problems were fixed.

I would be confident that the 07 will be pretty good out of the box - it has to be with the competition these days. I'm sure there will be some fit and finish issues and a rattle or two as usual. It won't hurt to wait and see, though. As the others said, it will be difficult to get a good deal until supply exceeds demand.

There might be the odd trivial little thing or two, but I am pretty confident the 07s will be fine. After 3 years of trouble free ownership of with my 03, I am sure my 07 will be just as solid. If anything unfortunate goes wrong, that is what warranty is for.

If the new G35 build quality is anything like the Infiniti M, then there shouldnt be any major problems.

Based on the hard points shown on the Coupe Concept, I would speculate that the 07 sedan is actually the end of the old body platform, and an evolutionary move toward a more refined look. The Coupe windshield-to-body transition and the fenders seem much more integrated to me. There is a design purity to the present body that seems to be lost. There are enough real changes beneath the skin that I'd guess the revised mechnicals will carry over for a while. BUT I WANT ONE ANYWAY!!!!
