I keep seeing posts about debadging. I know this is removing the factory badges (G35S emblem, etc) but how exactly is this done?

Wouldn't that leave holes in the body? Does this require filling the holes and repainting?

Just found an article on debadging. Guess they are glued on instead of
put on with pop rivets.

Next question... Does this screw up the resale or trade value?

And does it turn your car into a cop magnet? Do they look for
debadged cars and just assume you're some kind of street racer
or something like that?

Some badges are held on by glue, or stickum of some kind, and some are held on by pop rivets. Anyone know which is the case with the current G35? It's of interest to me because the '07 G35 could do without some of the rear badging. Losing the spelled-out "I-n-f-i-n-i-t-i" would be a good start. Nowhere is it written that a car has to have the brand name spelled out on the exterior. My present car came from the factory with only the brand logos, no brand name outside.

How did the article say to remove a stuck-on emblem? Waxed dental floss?

Removing letters or emblems only requires three
things to do it right. You can use floss but fishing
line works better and doesn't break. GooGone will
clean up the stickey residue. Cleaner wax should
complete the job.

Nope. It's juuuuust right as it is. Even kept the sticker on the lower-right of the wind shield, which does spell out the M-word and the B-word.

I just removed the 'infinity' letters, not that hard, just be patient. A hot air gun helps with the flossing. use goo-gone and a plastic razorblade ( a credit card will work too; be careful!!!) to help get the excess tape off.

I believe that the symbol it the only badge on the rear with guide pin holes. the 'g35S' can also be removed.

I'm still trying to figure out how to debadge the grill, probably have to replace the whole thing.

Your G came with a "Y"??

I did mine with hairdryer, satin floss tape (its smoother than waxed floss) and some goof off. I wouldnt recommend prying it with a credit card or using a razor blade unless u have a hand of a surgeon.

On the couple everything is just glued on, on the older sedans the symbol badge has pins. Not sure about the new one.

I dont think it screws with resale as long as you save the badges and just stick em back on before you sell.

I never had a problem with cops, and i have plenty of em behind me every week.
