Intelligent Key Question ...

With the 07, iKey (dare I call it that !!) is standard ...

I see that there is a regular key "hidden" inside the key fob .... so what happens when my intelli key is out of battery or something like that -- how would I use the normal key to start the car ??
There is no key slot in the ignition - its just the stop/start button ...
Is the ignition key slot hidden somewhere ?

Any ideas ?

The battery lasts for eight years. If it does die, you take the key out of the back of the fob, manually unlock the car, put the key back in the fob and insert it into a slot on the dash and press the start button. It works just like the new M.

Is the key removable/detachable? That way, you can just give the valet the key instead of carrying around a separate valet key.

... not that I've ever done valet before.

OK - that's good to know ....
I was thinking more on the lines of **** happening to the fob -- like dropping it in a puddle of water or something like that killing the electronics !

Where is this "slot" in the M ? Can you post a pic ?
I'll go back to the dealer and see if there is a slot on the G - not sure if I saw one - but I wasn't looking for this anyways ...

From reading the response, it looks like you need to put the key back into the fob and insert it ....

so not sure how to valet it ....
in the few times that I've given my car (not a G!!!!) to a valet, I've only used the normal key w/ the remote - I hardly carry the valet key with me anyways ......
