Beige would be more to the brown, grey would be more to the stone.

Close enough.

I have been back to drive the 335i twice, and was close to springing for it when I saw a new G in the flesh. To me it is far better looking live than in pics, and the interrior is better in every way than the Bimmer. So I am on hold pending driving the new G. My 02.5 has been the best car I have ever owned. After 68 k miles it has NO rattles and has had no repairs (other than recall brakes early on and normal maintenance).

My best car to date was my '04.5 G35 Sedan (although I added several mods to it ) and my '03 FX35 has also been a pleasure to drive; both without any major issues. However, after you test drive the '07 G35 Sedan, I'd suggest just one more test drive (if you feel you need to) of the BMW 335i Coupe or Sedan (a back-to-back test drive of the G35 Sedan and BMW 335i would be perfect). Then, come back to this thread and tell me if you agree or disagree with my conclusions (in my first post). If you truly haven't made up your mind and if the extra $$ isn't a huge factor, then I'd be very interested in what you have to say.

bsgoren,

I appreciate the thorough evaluation. Having taken up my FX to the dealer today to have it worked on, I know exactly what you mean by "banging" into gear. I was given a fully loaded 04 G35x as a loaner. It is was frustrating to attempt to accelerate and get lag time before the transmission woke up. Very similiar to the FX. It's sad to hear that they didn't really address that. Even with these issues I'm still eager to get out there and take it for a test drive.

I just test drove the car. Believe me, it's smooth. Look at me, even going 30mph+ on these railroad tracks, it felt like floating on clouds...

(j/k... besides, that's a 5 series anyway.... but I do plan on scheduling a test drive anyway, just for kicks. It's def. a G35 for me -- hands down.)

(Yes, yes, old joke, but it never gets old. Just like us G35 enthusiasts!)

Stone isn't beige, it's gray, so it must have been wheat!

I thought the AT was improved in the 07 where the shifts were quicker. I imagine most people who want to shift will just get the manual, like myself. It just seems like it's a lot to ask the transmission to read your mind on when to shift and how quick.

I don't know; maybe it was gray leather. To tell you the truth, I don't even remember. At least I know the ext. color was the light silver...it was very nice. And, of course, as you can see from my 1st post, I certainly remember the test drive itself. Obviously, I thought the details of the test "drive" were the most important for me to remember. Sorry for the confusion...I guess I'm getting older.

"Just for fun" then, go test drive the '07 BMW 335i and you'll know exactly just how quick that car "reads" your mind when shifting (and does it so effortlessly without the slightest of bang...very smooth).

In contrast, you'd still have to add Gordgee's full 10-wire Grounding Gear kit just to improve the '07 G35 Sedan's MM upshifting, and even then, the BMW 335i's MM (auto) shifting will still be much quicker. As much as Infiniti improved this car for '07, they totally skipped over the tranny, and that was a major mistake, imho. They absolutely should have put in an "all new" 6-speed tranny that shifts quicker and doesn't "bang" into gear. I guess that will have to wait until at least MY '08.

If I had my G35 now, I'd sit inside it instead and marvel at all of its technology for hours and hours. Maybe I'll program in the addresses of all my friends, family, and frequently-visited places.

Doesn't the new G's AT suppose to adjust to the driver and how he or she drives?

Comparing a Sedan to a Coupe is not really an even comparison. As Infiniti's bread and butter vehicle, the G35 Sedan was designed for a mainstream, family market compared to the 335i Coupe.

The '08 G35 (G37?) Coupe will be a better comparison to a 335i Coupe.
