I think about the same thing, I was gonna make a thread asking if anyone buying the 2007 right off the bat will end up disappointed next year or the year after if they make changes like they did with the current G35 when it came out. I know cars usually get interior changes every year but never any significant exterior changes, but I can tell a great deal of difference with the 2003 model to the 2006. I hope this doesn't happen this time around.

No matter what there will always be some changes and improvements. That's just how it is. Although I'm estatic about the new G, I'm still going to wait a while longer to see what else they come up with. There's a good chance that there may be a 6/7-speed transmission within a couple of years or so(not that I'm certain, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some Nissan GTR goodies on other Nissan/Infiniti vehicles.)

I say wait and see what happens; just to play it safe.

If you want it, just go and get it, don't wait for any changes, you'll be waiting forever, that's just nuts!

yeah i was thinking of the same thing ....how next year therell be better upgrades etc etc... but hey every years the car's going to get better....or least it should.....so why bother waiting ( except for perhaps to get the bugs out of the 1st year models ) life's too short . be the first kid on the block with the new G my bf had the first of the 2nd generation IS last year in our area and he looved it ...though he went thru 2 recalls and a few problems but no biggies,

BTW, have you actually driven the new G yet? If so, what exactly is it that you'd like for them to improve or change?

There will always be small little improvements every year. Like others have said, if you wait now, you'll be waiting forever. The car will never be "perfect". I bet that chrome piece on the trunk will be the first thing that goes '08 model year. It'll change to a body color trim piece.

Why would there be a 2007.5? I would guess a year before any changes. One factor to buy early is resale of 4 year old G's are sliding as more 2003's come of leases etc. The 2007 G will be hot as a pre owned model.

If we're lucky and that chrome piece on the trunk will be the first thing that goes '08 model year and it changes body color trim piece then maybe it will fit this years models. If not, I would almost buy a new trunk lid to get rid of that chrome thing.

I would be more concerned about:

a. 6 speed AT coming out 2007.5 or even 2008
b. M35 with 6 speed AT and new G engine for 2007.5 or 2008

Either of these will be instant trade-in time for me assuming I pull the trigger
on the 07 G.

I would imagine it would be fairly easy to remove the chrome lip and have it painted body color if you did not like the chrome lip. I think how it looks will be very dependent on the color of the car. If I was going with the rear Sport spoiler then I would definitely have it painted.
