Lease Question

I am new to leasing and am debating between either buying or leasing the new G. When I went to my local dealer a few weeks ago just to check numbers on leasing an 06, I was quoted a $599 dealer fee, $359 doc fee and $550 bank fees. Does this sound right? Thanks

Leasing is complex - read up on the web to understand the basics.

There are numerous fees involved (some legit, most crap) -- even if these numbers sound correct (or even better than others), they can easily make up for the "loss" by changing any of the other variables.

Ask the dealer for the complete lease details - in addition to these fees you need to know the cap cost, MF & residual %
Also other things like miles/yr, any mandatory down pymnts etc.

btw, the "dealer fee" amount sounds suspect in your list.

Bank fee is legitimate.

Theres almost always going to be destination/handling fees as well as a "lease/bank" fee. However, anything is negotiable. Just remember to negotiate the price of the vehicle before telling them you want to lease.

This site has a ton of good info on it:

For a G35x, loaded with Premium/Navi packages costing $38,200, how much would you guys think a monthly payment would be if I were to lease it over 3 or 4 years? Again this is just an estimate, I want a neighorhood price range to see what i'm going to do, lol.

$530 a month is way too high unless those are Canadian dollars?

I pay $460 a month for 39 months for my 05 with premium, sport, and aero packages(MSRP $36,200) with absolutely nothing down, tax included, and no dealer fees, or bank fees, or any of those extra charges. Honestly, I won’t trade my 05 in for the 07 until I can get the exact same deal give or take about $10 a month. I definitely wouldn’t even consider doing a 3+ year lease for over $500 per month on a G35. That sounds mighty high. I guess if you aren’t getting a discount on the vehicle price then that is about what you will pay. I would wait till you can get at least $1500 off the sticker. That will help a lot. Oh yea putting money down on a lease is a very risky thing!

Hmmm ..... never put money down on a lease.
If you want to bring MF down, consider putting in a security deposit (or MSD if you get a MF discount like BMWs).

Never look at a lease in terms of how much money it is per month -- you don't want to go down that path when negotiating a deal - money per month is something you can calculate yourself given all the numbers.
If you take the x $/month approach, you'll get screwed.

Yep, check out that website I posted above. It's got a lease calculator on it that is really useful. There are so many factors when calculating payment. Its very difficult to estimate without knowing all of the variables.

How bout .0021 money factor, .59 residual, and $2500 off list price, no money down at all, for 39 months, and 15000 miles per year? Think we could get anywhere near that deal on an 07? Didn’t think so. I guess I will just have to wait.

Purchase Price : $32,500
Residual : 59%
Term : 36 months
Money Factor : 0.0021
Tax Rate : 8.25%

Monthly Amount : $329.17
Monthly Interest : $111.62
Monthly Payment : $477.15

Assuming a $35k MSRP (I think its about 34,700 really) and a $32,500 purchase price - with no other costs for the lease you are looking at: (with your numbers for MF, period & residual - mileage is not relevant)

~$416 / month (+ tax, if applicable)

EDIT:

Given that your original amount is $460, you can easily beat that rate with the above scenario
(Even if your tax is 10%, the pymt is only $457.60)
