Meh, I didn't order the XM package figuring I'll be fine with just MP3s out the wazoo...we'll see if I regret it!

Sorry for the dumb question but does the Nav package come with everything I need for XM radio and NavTraffic (besides the subscription) or is there something else I need to buy with it?

I'm confused by the fine print in the brochure:

If you get the Navi package you won't need to purchase anything additional.....except the subscription to the service of course.

Yes the XM receiver and antenna IS included with the Navi package. If you do not get the Navi package, you have the option to purchase an aftermarket XM receiver or can purchase one directly from Infinti. Same goes with Sirius.

Music, how do I listen to thee? Let me count the ways...

- AM (do we get a WX weatherband? I thought that was the greatest feature in some other cars)

By the way, am I to assume the CD changer gets moved from the dash to the trunk only in the case of the Bose system? Because this - http://carsmedia.ign.com/cars/image/...0044117762.jpg - looks an awful lot like an in-dash changer to me...or is it just a single drive for DVD nav or ripping...?

The CD changer only gets moved to the trunk when you have the Navi package. When you have the Navi package, you get a single in-dash CD player. Btw, the Navi is hard drive based, not DVD.

It's wicked-fast compared to a DVD-based system, too. The salesguy demonstrated how he could "pan" the coverage from Elk Grove north about 14 miles to downtown Sacramento using the controller ****. It panned the distance in just a few seconds and when he stopped it, the full detail street coverage popped right on to the display. Impressive.

Is that EXTRA $15 on TOP of the regular XM subscription, or is that a fee for traffic alone should you choose to go for it but don't want the regular XM programming?

I guess $3.99 wouldn't be a deal breaker for me...

If I want Sirius rather than XM, do I have to skip the nav? I understand that the XM hardware is included in the price of the nav, but if I'm willing to pay extra for the Sirius receiver, can it be added, or would that be incompatible with the nav? Obviously, I could use a clunky add-on Sirius receiver, but I'd like an integrated setup.

I have a lifetime subscription to Sirius, so I don't want to move over to the dark side. [I know, it's the lifetime of the receiver, but it can be transferred to another receiver for $75.] I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers Sirius, for Howard or other reasons.

In an ideal world, Sirius and XM would license dual-service receivers, so that people could buy a cаr without considering which service they can get with it. Instead, being locked in a death-match, Sirius and XM are bribing the car companies to exclude the other company. All the German cаr companies are Sirius-only, including VW/Audi, which used to offer a choice. Model year '07 is the last year that Nissan/Infiniti will offer a Sirius option. That leaves Toyota/Lexus/Scion as about the only brands that still offer a choice. Pity. I'm as committed to XM as eelton is to Sirius and I'm kinda PO'd that I can't get any German cаr with XM.
