What engine oil does the G35 use?

I couldn't find anything via Search, and I don't recall ever reading about it. For those of you who already own the car, what kind of engine oil does it take? 5w-20? 5w-30? 10w-30?

Thanks!

5W30

It's in the manual

Sweet, thanks Glex! How would 5w-20 or 0w-30 hurt it? (Actually, does 0w-30 even exist?) Mobil1 discontinued the 0w-20, which is the synthetic equivalent for non-syn 5w-20, so for my Mazda6, we're advised to just use Mobil1 5w-20.

^ why you asking? I would recommend the using the OE recommendations unless you are FI. The manufacturer recommends a particular weight based on engine tolerances, temperatures(heat), wear and fuel economy.

5w-20 would NOT be OK if the mfr recommends 5w-30

OTOH, 0w-30 should be fine -- but sometimes the oil may not hold up over time as well as 5w-30 (since the viscosity range is larger - so more compromises)

5w-30 is very easily available in all kinds of oil - why do you want to mess around ???
Stick to the recommended oil

As with previous VQ engines, Castrol Syntec 0W-30 (made in Germany) should be an excellent oil choice.

I only allow my dealership to change my oil and I always request the synthetic equivalent. Truthfully I don't know what weight it is but I trust their judgement on this. They're probably putting in some crap 20w-50 for all I know?!

Because I thought for synthetic, it's a different oil. My Mazda6 uses 5w-20, but for synethetic, Mobil1 0w-20 was recommended. It wasn't until they discontinued it (for whatever reason) that they said 5w-20 synethetic will do just fine. I don't know crap about engine oils -- only how to change it -- and I've tried reading bobtheoilguy.com.

Speaking of changing oil, since I've never owned a G35 before... Is it easy? I know Bimmers are a PITA to do if you don't have this "pump" people speak of. I was hoping it's simply because it's a Japanese car.

It's a little harder than average because of a pan that needs to be removed or lowered in the back which is how I do it. Removal means lots of bolts, rear drop is only two but still makes access a PITA. Other than that nothing unusual.

The '07 could be completely different. Certainly the new dipstick upfront is a huge plus.

What ?? Am I reading this correctly ??

You say the prev. model required you to drop the oil pan to change the oil ??

I hope I'm mis-reading it !

Ideally, 5W30....but in a pinch, you can use some slight variants...
I'd stick with that grade, whether dino or synth.

LOL sorry. That's a plastic cover not the oil pan.

I noticed that with my Nissan, despite the fact that nobody has ever changed the oil except the dealerships and myself, screws are still missing holding the plastic shrouding in place. That's annoying, and so I switched to DIY sometime around 55k. It kind of bothers me than an Infiniti doesn't come from the factory filled with synthetic. I understand that the benefit might outweigh the cost, but still, it's not an inexpensive car....
