Deals?

Does anyone think there will be any negotiating in the next two months for the new G? Or am I pretty much resigned to paying sticker price.
Any advice appreciated.

That's a pretty good deal .... considering the car is so new ...

It would be very helpful to say which city you are from ....
there are geographic influences on pricing.

Also how many Infiniti dealerships do you have near your area (say within 50-100 miles ?)

The deal on the selling price of the car should not depend on whether you are going to buy it or lease it.

You should always negotiate the price independent of lease/buy (and even trade ins)

If you start looking at lease pymts/trade in value etc etc, you will get screwed on the selling price

Lease. I am in Raleigh, NC. We have around 2 dealers in a 100 mile range and 4 in a 150 mile range. I checked with the other dealers and they all said they would not be able to get the deal my local dealer was able to provide. I should add, my local dealer was offering a $1000 gift card to best buy or a mall if we put purchased a car on the night of the unveiling. I convinced my dealer to apply the $1000 towards reducing the price of the card and not give me a gift card.

Good luck in trying to get a dealer to give you the same sales price on a lease and purchase. In my experiences, they typically have different programs and/or incentives for each and you typically get a better sales price on a purchase than lease.

However, becasue this car is so new and in high demand, there may be little or no difference.

Did I have a point?

I agree. When I went about a month ago to inquire a lease deal vs a purchase deal on the 2006 G35, the dealer said he can only give the discounted price on a purchase and not on the lease. I am not sure if this was because the $2500 incentive on the 06s is offered by infiniti and they might only be offering the incentive on purchase?

Nope - the dealer was just BSing.

The factory to dealer cash incentive (the 2500 on the '06) would be paid for both a lease and a purchase.
Lease is a purchase from the dealer's perspective -- the leasing company "buys" the car and leases it to you -- the dealer is out of that picture.

More than likely the dealer knew that you wanted to lease (and not buy) and was playing hardball by saying stuff like he could make a better deal on a purchase and not on a lease.
If a "purchase only" customer was negotiating, the dealer would've more than likely given him crap about how he can make a better deal on a lease
Its BS at the end of the day.

I'm from Denver, and there are only three dealerships in the state of Colorado.

The 2500 incentive is only paid on a lease if it is non-IFS.
