For those of you with doubts.

I'd hold off on the 07 G35 sedan for 2 reasons and pretty much these 2 only.

1) 2008 G35 coupe, will have nothing worse and tons better.... (I couldn't because i need a sedan)

2) If you don't need AWD and you are leasing, 335i sedan. I needed AWD so I couldnt work out the leasing, but I have a feeling a lease on a 335i might actually save you money over a 3 year lease or at least be the same price (factoring free maintenance)

Hope this helps. Otherwise its usually better to pull the same trigger earlier than later IMHO...

BTW - the 335i [sedan] will be available in xi trim Feb '07 [but not w/the sport package]. You are correct about fantastic lease rates on the 335i - this is what I was quoted this weekend:

'07 335i sport sedan:

- $51,496.00 [this was w/all options]
- 3 yr, 45K w/$4000.00 down
- $583.00 month w/scheduled maintenance.

WOW...

yea, I couldn't wait till feb, plus I was worried about the premium i would have to pay for Xi. For anyone BUYING a car though, G35 slaughters the BMW in value.

Perhaps in MSRP but not for leasing right now. I also have a quote for a loaded '07 G35S:

- MSRP $41,450 [again all options]
- 3 Yr/45K mi w/$3,500.00 down
- $623.00/month

I'm sure the residuals/money factor will be better month-to-month no doubt, but that's an expensive lease considering the low MSRP. Purchasing the G outright, yes you are correct.

I started the thread reading "BMW leases are much cheaper"

This would be really nice, but I feel that the price would be through the roof...

One thing you didn't mention about 335's is availablility. People on e90post are wondering if they can even have a car in the month of Jan if they ordered it 2 weeks ago. If you need a car, you need a car. You could get a G35 tomorrow and be done with it and enjoying your purchase. You could order a BMW and wonder the 2nd week of Feb. which ship your car is on and track it. Actually, I've found the latter to be quite fun as it's a new experience, but it's nowhere if you need daily transportation.

I still don't understand leasing except to lower the cash flow. My Nissan is 9 yrs. old--if I had leased, I'd be on my 4th Maxima by now. All that money, and nothing to show for it.

True --- I am with you reg. leases ....
The joys of driving a car with no payments

In TX the laws are so messed up that it makes no sense to lease -- you pay sales tax on the full price of the car - not just the amount you lease it for (like other sensible states)
Also if you ever want to buy the car at the end of the lease, you get to pay sales tax again on the selling price -- sh!tty deal.

btw, the availability of Gs is OK as long as you are looking for the auto -- If you want a 6sp, then most likely you have to order and wait

Sure, it's a sophisticated rental. I guess to the lessee, possession is 9/10 of the law. You don't own the vehicle, but you have all the responsibilities and liabilities as such. But to prove my theory, why would anyone clear bra a leased car? They don't even own the vehicle.

Leasing is smart if its for your business.

Otherwise it's very debateable, unless you are a new car junkie.

Not so much with BMW's though, they really help you out with their lease support.

The rumor of the coupe having a larger engine with more hp makes me hesitant to buy now. Remember when the coupe first came out it had more hp than the sedan, but they eventually put the same motor in the sedan. I'll just wait to see what happens.

Actually the Coupe and the sedan originally had the same motor. The specs were shown as less 20hp less in '03 sedans but it is generally accepted they are actually no different and were just underrated. Rumuors of the new Coupe are that the engine displacement will be different. Of course it's only a rumour at this point.
