I wonder if my "friend" ***'d the engine... His commute is stop and go which should be good (no driving at same speed for long distances).
I don't think so. I did it to an 07 Sedan with 25 miles on it, WOT redlined all the way to ~90mph, a few times, The car saw 7000 rpm probably 20 times in 10 minutes. I am sure I didn't F- the Engine up, cause the dealer was sitting right next to me, he would have said somthing like, "Please be gentle, you are F-ing up my Engine"

I definitely tried not to but failed miserably about 5 minutes out of the dealership (i had 25mi on the car). I've already gone 140mph with the car several times and I regularly push it to its limit...it's so amazing I can't stop. My car's at 350miles now.

If you haven't rev'ed it up to 4k rpm, you should do it... So you wouldn't end up with improperly set piston rings which will lead to your engine eating up 4 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles like lots of the guys on this forum are getting. Well, I guess it's too late now, since you're suppose to do it in the first 20 miles of the car.

This is just my opinion being a believer in the "hard break-in" method.

4K and 7K are different though. You only recommending 4K or all the way? I think I'm gonna have to go do 0-80 with the pedal all the way down right now.

Good idea ttrank!!

JWangSDC, I would recommend reading this post by Montara. I read it and followed those steps when breaking in my new engine. Here's the link:

I've run mine up to the rev limiter a couple of times and ren it up to 100 while passing on the NY Thruway. Solid as a rock and smooth as silk.

no one had test drove the one i picked up.
30mi out of the dealer I redlined it passing someone.

in the first 500 I hit the speed limiter of 135 a couple of times and redlined maybe 15 times, gentle on it the rest of the time.

in the next 500 I did the same....

now at 1600 i am gentle most of the time. I hang the back end out sideways coming from nice smooth corners with no cars around. I go WOT merging on the interstate and occasionally take it up to 130(takes no time to get to it). I look for a contender to mess with from a redlight with no possible cross taffic ahead. and I blast the studio on wheels during it all .

Interesting - are you AT or 6spd? There is some conjecture that even the Sport ATs are limited to 130 mph (which would be really weird, but is possible I guess).

yea, I beleive he was lying. I have 1800 miles on my G now and I've taken it to 133...and that's as fast as it goes. Limiter just kicks in. 140 is a blatant lie...he is def not my hero.
